I've seen pics that show the "cartridge & casing" from the gun which looks about like a typical 30-06 except for one thing... each one is half again the size of a 12-ounce beer bottle, and it fires them at the rate of around 4,000 rounds per minute. You can also search for the pic of a VW Beetle sitting next to the gun assembly, so it truly is way bigger than a car. The "Thunderbolt" probably comes from the fact that the projectile arrives ahead of the sound of the gun, so the MIG pilot probably never heard a thing.
