Which Nikon Dslr is great deal in 2022?.

I’m not a professional photographer but take my hobby seriously. I’ve been shooting with a (used) Nikon D7100 with several lenses for several years. Three years ago I bought a Nikkor 18-300mm lens, and it’s a marriage made in Heaven. I shoot mostly nature, wildlife, scenery, nighttime, etc., and while not National Geographic image quality, it suits me well. I’ve won some local contests with my trusty D7100. A couple of years ago a friend also bought a used D7100 with just a kit lens, and she still loves it and is looking to add additional glass.
I recently purchased a magnificent older used Sigma AF 150-500mm f/5-6.3 lens that I hope will move my bird photography up several notches.
So, that’s my take. Someone suggested you figure out your need first; I agree and I’d recommend you find something high quality and buy both the best camera and lens(s) you can afford. Good luck and happy shooting.

How about just a self-proclaimed camera market expert? Personally, I think a used D750 is the best mix of recent technology and price. You can pay more for the D780. But really, for what? It's just another (final) 24MP full-frame DSLR.

The D850 is the final and best release. But never and I mean NEVER spend new money for an old DSLR at a new camera price. Buy a used one and figure it's the last camera you need this life-time, same as the D750 should be.

You can go further back in time, but why? They'll never make another new DSLR, so go with the final (ish) versions.

I agree completely. I had two D750s that I purchased used. Great cameras. Just watch the shutter count. Many are on the market with low shutter counts. Not too heavy and fantastic shooters. I had a lot of old Nikon lenses and did not want to go with a Nkon mirrorless at the time.

My D850 can literally do everything I want. And I have a pair of D800E cameras - 1 stays in the studio and the other is for personal work. No idea why opines here seem to stop with the D810. The D800E's are completely capable 36MP cameras. - I can see the difference between the 45.6MP D850 and D800E shots. But the difference is relatively small. -

Now, the key to satisfaction with either camera is quality lenses that perform up to the requirements of 36MP and 45MP sensors. Nikon's list of lenses meeting this requirement for sufficient IQ is a great resource when looking for new or used lenses.

Get the one you’ll love using more than any other.

Save money and get the original D800 secondhand. Some reports say it has less Moire than its successor 810 and 850.

If money is the prime consideration, then your suggestion is a good one, but the D810 is a better camera in some ways. The autofocus was improved over the D800. The D810 has a faster processor. The shutter has much better damping and is super quiet for a DSLR. The D810 is much quieter than even the D850. I know because I have owned both. The D800 has an anti-aliasing filter, which accounts for having less Moire than the D800E, D810 and D850 cameras, but because of that, sharpness suffers a bit. I think the bottom line is that all of the D8xx cameras are excellent, but as time passes, it may become more difficult to find a D800 or D800E in excellent condition compared with a D810, discontinued about 4 years ago, or a D850, still current.

If the OP wanted different input, the question should have been phrased differently. Such as:

If I want a cropped Nikon DSLR, what would be the best model for a value pricing and I'm open to used?

If I want a full-frame Nikon DSLR, what would be the best model for a value pricing and I'm open to used?

If I have at most $1000 to spend in a Nikon DSLR, what would be the best candidates?

Alas, our OP didn't ask any of these framed questions ....

Hello Paul,

I am really sorry for all the drama regarding my question about the DSLR cameras only. The reason why I asked this question is because some people asked my opinion. I always tell them go check the web, but they want to get their information from people using these cameras. I now know the D750 is a great system, and also learned about things to consider like prices, condition and where to buy them. I really appreciate everyone's feed back since the camera world is like the universe. Thank you

I believe sharpness is in the lenses and that any lack of it is not apparent except perhaps in a massive enlargement with a magnifying glass if you have the best lenses. Moire is a far worse thing for any photo to suffer from, though.
And, unless you're a photographer for the Press, you don't need an absolute blitz of a speed- that doesn't help any camera to make your photos any better technically. But I have seen the younger generation of photographers blast off cameras like pneumatic drills for the fun of it and to simply show off. Like gunfighters, one faster than the other!

My own D800 is in mint condition, though used a lot. Many cameras are discontinued before their time for sales purposes of pushing a new version - that may not always be the better one!

Actually the D800 has a very slight risk of moire too - but no way as bad as its successors.

Go to nikonusa.com and purchase a refurbished Nikon D850... especially when they offer an additional 10% discount, usually around holiday times... Memorial Day, Fourth of July. Alternately, buy a refurbished Nikon Df from the Nikon web site.

I have both the D750 and the Z6. I would get a Z6.

I wouldn't wish a 12MP DSLRosaur relic onto anyone, at any price, not in a modern 2022 world with 24MP options. Fine camera if it's the only one you bought and kept back in 2008. Not worth spending money on today.

LOL You are funny... having said that...

Pixels are like buckets; they can hold gold or manure.

I prefer 12 buckets of gold to 24 buckets of manure.

At the risk of sounding conceited, (but I have to say it because it is true),
the quality of the images I have taken with a D700 obliterate
the quality of the images of at least 70% of the images presented on UHH
that have been shot with cameras with pixel counts that far exceed
the D700.

The links below are the last 3 images I posted shot with a D700... tell me I'm wrong.

Thinking (or submitting on a photographic website )
that a camera (or photo) is superior, because it has
a large(r) pixel count is grossly ignorant
and false my boy.

I agree. While I shoot a d750 and d810, the d700 has some of the best SOOC colors of any Nikon. It is a true professional camera.

Thanks for the wise words... and back up ReFlections...
The D700 does have a caché
however, cost aside, I'd prefer your D750 or D810...
Having said that, if someone new to DSLRs wanted
something to get started on, and does not want to burn
thousands of dollars a low count D700 for less than
$500 is a superlative camera and a monumental bargain.

Sorry, but you won't be able to show off and blast the D700 like the young lads today blast the D850 and such speedsters to impress the young models!

As a Nikon user, I get the loveliest colour ever from the little Fuji XA-1 that I carry around when I'm not on photographer duty, and the clearest ever too.
