Sorry, but you won't be able to show off and blast the D700 like the young lads today blast the D850 and such speedsters to impress the young models!

LOL

No mate... I do that with a D3 of the same vintage as the D700.

Apart from that, the D700 goes to 8 frames a second with the grip on it
and the D850 only goes to 7 frames a second continuously.

Don't touch a gun mate, you are bound to shoot yourself in the foot ROFL

And apart from both those things, the young models do what they can to impress me,
not the other way around LOL

And apart from all that as well... I don't need to "spray and pray",
And the young lads are "Spraying and praying" and dumping hundreds of frames.

Self and "O"
Self and "O"...

How about just a self-proclaimed camera market expert? Personally, I think a used D750 is the best mix of recent technology and price. You can pay more for the D780. But really, for what? It's just another (final) 24MP full-frame DSLR.

The D850 is the final and best release. But never and I mean NEVER spend new money for an old DSLR at a new camera price. Buy a used one and figure it's the last camera you need this life-time, same as the D750 should be.

You can go further back in time, but why? They'll never make another new DSLR, so go with the final (ish) versions.

I 'stumbled' into a great, used Nikon D750 deal and I couldn't agree more with you, CHG_CANON. Results can make me 'look' like a professional, as well as make me look like a fool. It is so powerful... FF is 'The Bomb!" It is a joy to own this camera and 'all my glass' works on it!

What are you shooting with your D850? I have had mine for almost four years and have never had a problem with Moire.

Most photographers are moving on to mirrorless which have many more advantages over DSLR's.

Can someone please list a half dozen or whatever # of "advantages" there are. "Many more" to me means a half dozen at least. OK, OK, 5 but two or three don't cut it. Thanks!

Harry
PS I'm 91 and the weight is no problem for me. And my Canon 5Dc fits my hand to boot. And has more than enough compatible lens to suit me. And yes, I know how many MP it produces. And I also know what size I print. Thanks again! Harry

I have a D850 and D500 with loads of lenses and I do my work with these camera and love 'em. Right now, there is a sale on a pro cam, D4 (https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/refurbished-dslr-cameras/1557b/d5-refurbished.html?utm_source=EC&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=refurb-start-5-20-2022&utm_content=link&utm_term=D5&ET_CID=4251009&ET_RID=475477410&SC_ID=0031o00001cVzFXAA0), for $1,999! That is normally a $6,000+ camera. Of course, this is a sale on a refurbished cam...but, hey!

Why do I love mirrorless? Let me count the ways:

1. Smaller body by removing the space needed for that yesteryear flapping mirror.
2. IBIS that turns every lens into a stabilized lens, even the golden oldies of the manual focus, pre-electronic ages.
3. EVF with shimmering highlights of the plane of focus.
4. Histogram available for display in electronic view finder (EVF).
5. Detailed 10x zoom in EVF.
6. Silent (not a single noise) shutter.
7. Extreme frames per second, 20+.
8. Image playback in EVF for review when LCD impossible to see in bright light.
9. Image playback at 10x zoom in EVF.
10. Sharper mirrorless lens designs.
11. More ultra fast lenses as sharp wide open as any stepped down DSLR lens ever.
12. One digital platform supporting portfolio of legacy DSLR lenses, legacy SLR lenses and modern mirrorless lenses.
13. Autofocus beyond f/8 for extended configurations.
14. Platform for any / all ongoing technology advancements in digital photography.
15. EVF that displays the results of the image before shooting.
16. EVF that allows for ad hoc updates like boosting the ISO for a brighter focus view, then restore ISO and shoot, without even lowering the camera from a shooting position.
17. Entire frame available for selective AF position.

I'm sure I missed probably several others.

I agree, I'm 75 and the weight poses no problem either of cameras I carry like Nikon D800, Canon 1DS Mark 111 and their lenses. I also carry Bronica and Mamiya medium formats ( for B&W film that I develop myself) along with tripod, I'm a robust Irishman, thank God.
I have a couple of 'old' mirrorless like the Fuji X-A1 and Canon EOS-M which are great to carry 'incogito' under my coat, the EOS-M even in a large pocket with its sharp 22mm.

The big Canon 1DS 111 has my 28/2.8 IS as a virtually permanent fixture for landscapes/architectural, and I don'tmind the weight of the Canon L IS 70-200/4 on it either.

It depends on what you want to do with it. I still have and occasionally shoot the D300 and D300s that I acquired a few years ago upon deciding to kickstart my interest in photography. They are even older. For a lot of things, they are just fine. For others, they remind me that they do not have some of the really nice features and capabilities of more modern cameras.

I often get emails from Nikon for refurbished equipment sales with some fairly good deals.
Go to their website and get on their mailing list.
