A large amount of images were produced on this trip. The topmost picture was produced without post-processing. The shoreline was "moving away" from me in this picture. I have since used the move and crop tool in Affinity to display the shoreline as a flat (more or less) linear feature. Thanks for your patience

Generally the northern third of NH and Vt peak during the first week in October. The middle third is the second week and the lower third is the following week. This can change a bit from year to year but it is a good rule of thumb.
If you travel south to the Berkshires, Stockbridge/Essex area around Columbus Day, Oct. 11 th it should be at or near peek!

Tks very much for the tip
When I lived in Vermont years ago, the official word was that the fall colors began in the north around September 1st and the peak progressed southward to southern New England and New York around the end of October. Now that the climate is changing, all bets on timing are off, but the color change will still start in the coolest areas. Good luck, and don't forget your sunglasses!

We are in Lake Placid right now, and we'll stay about five to six days and after that I think we are very most likely going to go over to back to Vermont and stay there for a week so your timing is pretty much on target. Thank you so much for all your help in the info

I live in Northern New York( north of Adirondack Mountains) The colors show up in about three weeks. As for Adirondacks if you are in the high peck area (Saranac Lake, Lake Placid - Keene Valley Area.) You could be looking at about two weeks from today(9-22-21). Remember colors of the trees is like the weather, I could be off.
Two years ago I was headed to Vermont to shoot some fall color. I stopped in a rest area around Albany and was talking to a gentleman about the trip. He said he had just come down from Vermont and didn't think it was one of their better years. He suggested heading up hwy. 17 toward Lake Placid because he felt the color was much better. Wow, what a display of color! The Adirondacks were the best color I've ever seen and that encompasses all of New England, the Midwest, West Virginia, the Carolinas, Colorado, and Tennessee. I'm heading north this Wed. and plan to go into the Adirondacks and then head over to Vermont.

Attached is a photograph, taken at 8 this morning, from the balcony of our room on the 5th floor at the Hilton in which is located directly across the street from the south side edge of Mirror Lake in the City of Lake Placid.
Attached is a simple cellphone photograph for your information and a personal evaluation.
As you can see, yes we are extremely overcast and will be for part of the day. According to the weather it should come out I ate the sun should come out for a little while today. The foliage color is about 30% right now and, unknown but it should get better by the end of the week.
Weather forecast for the remainder of this week, today through Friday and Saturday well very and of course we have no guarantee as to what the color will look like by Friday. Only the Good Lord knows the answer to that for sure.
Hope this is a little bit of help for you.
Cheers

Thank you. I see the color is coming along pretty well but it looks like it needs another few days to really ripen. I hope my trip north this weekend will find some pockets of nice color. I like it when there is still some green along with the colored trees, it makes for a nice contrast.
