Good Morning Hoggers....

My wife and I are in Upstate Vermont (Burlington) right now and it seems we a "slightly" early the changing of the color for the leaves... We would dearly love to get come "calender worthy" shots of Autumn Scenery...

In the last several days, we have traveled the area of Stowe, coming from Maine, and we are seeing only about 10% to maybe 20% (???) in the coloring...

My question is... We have the ability to go anywhere in Vermont or New York and then south.....

... Can anyone give us "actual current reports" for locations of "full-color change happening right now ???"

Thanks so much in advance for your input and your help

Cheers

Oct. 1 is the usual date to start seeing the good colors.

Remember the old saying, "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature." She'll bring out her palette of colors on her time, not ours.

I live in Northern New York( north of Adirondack Mountains) The colors show up in about three weeks. As for Adirondacks if you are in the high peck area (Saranac Lake, Lake Placid - Keene Valley Area.) You could be looking at about two weeks from today(9-22-21). Remember colors of the trees is like the weather, I could be off.

I just looked at the information you were so graciously sharing with me and it appears that you're very much on track with your guidance. Thank you so much for all your help and I will continue to investigate that area further. I fully agree it looks like it may be about 2 weeks.

Followup Question for all the Hoggers...

Regarding my question about "Fall Foliage Colors" in N.Y.
....... We are traveling south, through N.Y., Penn, then via the mountains onward to North Carolina...

If anyone knows of "current" good color change, over say 50% in your area... South of N.Y. - Please let us know.

... Can anyone give us "actual current reports" for locations of "full-color change happening now ???"
....... South of the New York State area towards North Caroline... ??

Thanks so much in advance for your input and your help

Thanks for the update on the link. That was one of the links I was looking at two days ago but, apparently they just put out a brand new report out as of today for next week.

It looks like Lake Placid, New York, is a high-value Target location I need to look at. See the attached photos. The predictions for next week starting Saturday is around 75% for the following week after September to 22 according to the new report which was issued today.

We are currently on the extreme west side of Vermont, probably stay one or two days, and then slide over to Lake Placid area.

Again, thank you so much for all your help.

An idea my wife came up with some years ago was to call local places of businesses in the areas we wanted to visit for first hand reports on the current conditions. I was amazed at how friendly and helpful the folks were at most of the shops, hotels etc. in Lake placid and other small hamlets in that area.
