WOW! 0 activation's ........... You got a new one! Nikon does not reset the counters. Enjoy it!

I noticed that the serial number on the camera body is not the same as the serial number in the photo metadata. I emailed Nikon about that, asking if I should be concerned, and they said that the serial number on the camera body should match the serial number on the box (which is a plain white box), which it does.

Abe's of Maine is the last place on earth I would deal with.
They are known for unethical business practices by many.

A plain white box indicates it is refurbished. Refurbished either carry a 30 or 90 day warranty.

I made the jump from the D750 to D850 a year (pre-Covid) ago. I am a pro, so my needs may be more demanding than yours. It is an awesome camera, produces incredible images and isn't all that hard to learn to use. I keep a D750 body around for back-up.

Now to get more gigs to make the ROI happen more quickly. That's the bigger issue.

I currently use a Nikon D750 and have been amazed by the photos I get. Recently, I have been presented with the opportunity to upgrade to a Nikon D850. Camera is from the original owner, who is upgrading to mirrorless, like new condition, 2 1/2 years old and 11,014 shots. Comes with original box and everything which came with it. Is this camera worth $2500? Certainly better than $2997 + tax for a new one. I know the choice is mine, just looking for some thoughts here. I do not see mirrorless as an option as I do not want to replace all my lens or have to use an adapter.

Thanks

" have to use an adapter." Using the adapter is a so what. Once it's on it's on.

But 850 works exceptionally well when using studio strobes. Also the large 45mp Exceptional dynamic range are perfect for architecture and interior photography. As well as for extreme beauty images

I agree. I have been reading review. Many people, some professionals, find the D850 a plastic toy and have returned the camera. i am most likely going to pass ............

Whether you want this camera or not is your choice - nobody thinks it is a plastic toy - it is widely considered the best DSLR of all time from any manufacturer. Many pros use this camera daily.

I used to shoot a D750 as well (great camera). It does not feel like a toy right? The D850 is definitely more robust than the D750 so judge for yourself.

If the camera in question is USA and really only 11k shutter clicks it is worth the money if you still want to shoot DSLR - might offer even less like $2k and see if they bite.

Personally, I have switched to the Z system and would not go back to DSLR at this point.

Found another another D850 with 926 shots and the guy is willing to sell it for $1950
Everything but no box. Serial number starts with 30 .... which indicates a US model.
Just have to drive 200 miles to get it .........

If you are still interested in shooting DSLR's and have Nikon lenses then the D850 is the best all around DSLR ever made by anyone.

$1950 with 926 shutter clicks - assuming there is no damage to the camera, and it is a USA model (for maintenance reasons) is a great price.

Since you have to drive 200 miles - offer him $1795 cash (a dollar a mile for gas and wear and tear on the car) and see what he says.

Best of luck!

400miles=D850 with 926 actuations. This is a great formula no matter how to look at it.

Pay the man what he is asking and don't try to chisel him down because you have to drive. For 926 clicks on essentially, a mint++++ sample discounted almost $1400 over the original SRP; I would drive 400 miles as Bill suggested. And then take advantage of the time on the trip back to get in some quality time shooting some landscapes. It is the trip that is important.

Or, perhaps he could buy a new one for an additional $ 500 and not have to drive anywhere. The new one even comes wit a warranty!
