Considering how well the 850 is built, the warranty is just gilding the lily. The only work i have ever needed on my D850 out-of- warranty was replacing the scratched sensor top filter layer from an "overly-enthusiastic" sensor cleaning. And that was through Lifepixel in Washington state as Nikon was not accepting repairs in New York last year. Cost me $350.
Mine had to be returned to correct a problem with the dynamic format framing masks in the viewfinder about 2 months after I bought it. Required replacing the main circuit board, the LCD element in the viewfinder, and miscellaneous interconnecting cables. It would have been about an $800 repair outside of the warranty.
