Love it.
I have HAL announcing "There is a message for you." when an email comes in when I use Thunderbird.

Cut a snippet and have HAL say "I can't do that." when a program in Windows barfs.

What lens should I take on my trip to ___________?
What camera should I buy?
Where can I get support for my 20 yr old software to get it to run on my brand new computer?
Mirrorless vs DSLR?
Backup drives?
TVs for photo editing
Color profiling - aka my prints are too dark?
Using teleconverters on non-tele lenses?

And so on . . .

Using a camera to actually take pictures . . .

Good list, and let’s not forget the inevitable and immortal Mac vs PC...

Everybody has to start somewhere. I do remember better discussions on the hog when I first started lurking around several years ago.

The use of AI for photography. Its happening with the Super Resolution, systems such as the Olympus 1 are being reconsidered to tether to cell phones that could be a complete game changer, the entire idea of resolution may become obsolete as could the need for good glass. The day could come when asking about a modern camera's resolution would be like asking what kind of hay a Tesla uses...nonsensical. AI could literally fill in the blanks and get ultra high resolution photos. The whole mirrorless/DSLR thing is also going to go away...it could be heads-up AI displays so that the photographer can decide what photos to take from there. Still photos may be going away...think Oly's Pro Capture system or Apple Photos that move a little bit so the user can pick just the right capture as a still.

There will be the usual guy who wants to argue that he started in the film days, (as did I), and that their DSLR is just fine...so was mine...but the film guys now using the DSLR or mirrorless do not live forever. Newer generations of photographers will know nothing of (or care about) that generation of photography. Ask the average GenX person to read a map or even know the telephone numbers of his/her friends...won't happen. Tech is replacing that knowledge with other knowledge. It will happen just as it happened to us. How many of us know the right powder charge for some old fashioned flash from 100 years ago?

BUT - you don't need a camera to use AI - so how can it be photography?

I’m starting to sweat and sense paranoia descending on me. The load is heavy. I feel pressured to actually inventory the closet my wife assigned me to. And then... actually use the photography stuff I’ve purchased (all excellent, best for me choices, of course🥴) over the years. Hmm, I might actually enjoy some of what I’ve accumulated?

I don't think this question, in either direction will disappear. Emulators may make it possible to run old stuff on new computers, but the reverse is very hard. Even if you can in theory emulate things such as graphics cards, the program would run so slow as to be useless. Same for needing more memory than an old computer can address. SAS can use disk space as memory for example, but speed is compromsed. I'm sure drivers for old printers can be written, but who then will pay more than a new printer costs for said driver. Unless you value an old printer as if it were an antique car, it just isn't worth it, and unlike the car, the printer needs ink, paper, etc. which may not be available. Wait until gasoline disappears for cars.

Just my opinion;
Jim

Once we get everyone over to mirrorless bodies we can come back to the important business of full-frame vs crop.
