You left out:

What lens should I take on my trip to ___________?
What camera should I buy?
Where can I get support for my 20 yr old software to get it to run on my brand new computer?
Mirrorless vs DSLR?
Backup drives?
TVs for photo editing
Color profiling - aka my prints are too dark?
Using teleconverters on non-tele lenses?

And so on . . .

Using a camera to actually take pictures . . .

. . . And. . .

Nikon VS Canon VS Sony

Why won't Photoshop Ps / Lr Classic run on my Windows XP computer with 1GB RAM?

I can't afford a new PC or MAC because I just bought a digital Hasselblad, so I have to keep my 2005 vintage PC.

What is the best camera? (no price or use listed.)

What is the best lens? (no price or use listed.)

I just bought a Nikon D850 with a Nikon 150-600mm Lens and need a tripod and head for it costing no more than $200.

What can I do to take photographs where there is no light? (I just made that last one up.)

Once we get everyone over to mirrorless bodies we can come back to the important business of full-frame vs crop.

👍👍 Exactly!

And let me add one: I’ve spent many thousands of $ for cameras and lenses to produce beautiful images, but “should I spend $59 for a Seagate external drive or $69 for a WD drive to store them?”

Same reasoning is used for electric vehicles no doubt.

I need an adapter for the $2 yard sale Junkinon or Super Albatross lens I scored to use on my $4K DSLR!
Why do I need to know the exposure triangle, auto everything works fine.
What is ASA?
My cheap printer is gummed up again!
I need a cheap tripod to hold up my $12K rig for BIF work.
Then there's the Back Button Focus debacle!

Ad Nauseam.....

The new camera, software and printer will give you an Oil Painting. And some of us will look to find a refill for then OIL PAINT.

Sky replacement

What will be the next one?

I think your entire post is wrong from the word obsession. I use filters on my lenses to protect the glass. I am in no way obsessed and feel I MUST use a filter. I think it is a good idea. Rather than clean the camera glass numerous times I can clean the glass of the cheaper filter. For my money pictures are just as clear and sharp taken through a filter as when no filter is used.

Everything else you mention is simply a choice all of us make or not. And if we do make a choice either way many of us choose differently the next day for a different photograph. I have never met even one person who is obsessed with anything on your list. We like those things or we do not. No big deal either way.

I'm eagerly waiting for in-camera processing that replaces an ugly mug like mine with a more Robert Redford looking guy. 😜

You do not mention lens hoods. Filters are good for flare if you don't. If you do, then the hood should protect the lens - without the filters.

No I did not mention lens hoods because the OP did not mention lens hoods. While I appreciate your comment I am still going to use my lens filters for the exact reason I stated. Lens hoods, I use them all the time with every photo taken or at least 99.9% of the time, will not protect the front of the lens from over cleaning. You may recall that is the reason I use filters.

Sorry, I do not mean to be argumentative but am wondering why you posted to me. Are you trying to get me not to use filters? I have been in on many if not most discussions here regarding filters/lens hoods and have always been on the side of filters for my reason stated. I have no interest in changing your mind and don't have a clue why you would want to change mine. Am I not free to do what I want with my equipment?

No - neither do I wish to be argumentative. Really I was suggesting an alternative to filters. Glad to hear you do use lens hoods. I have not considered that lenses might be damaged by too much cleaning, but I have heard that filters, except for those costing as much as a lens, reduce IQ.

He (Rongnongno) is referring to the repeated post topics on here that get very old, pointless and some nearly idiotic. It is sarcasm. And he is right on. Read the thread from the beginning, please!

This is hilarious too, the OP titled it "What will be our next obsession?" And some people do not understand the "our" and that the entire post and thread is supposed to be sarcasm, not a place to argue further. But it seems UHH arguing is an obsession as well. Where will the list end? LOL

" How many of us know the right powder charge for some old fashioned flash from 100 years ago?", I still use 15 grams for an individuals, 30 grams for a group and 50 grams for full interior shots. Works for me.

I did not know that powder for flash is still available. How about flash bulbs, anyone still use those?
