What a nice thing to say. Sorry about my slow response time here.

I actually can't quite answer your question..I don't use Topaz filters...and I don't quite understand what the definition of a pp filter is, even though I looked it up. I tweak most of my better shots....usually between "a little" and "moderately" with the PhotoPaint application of Corel Graphics Suite X3. I will edit big time if I have too on occasion.

I wonder if part of the answer lies elsewhere. My camera...Canon T3i...has a variety of settings which I think are pretty standard...allowing me to select different modes of in-camera processing...e.g. "Landscape" and "Neutral" and several others. If I'm not sure of a shot, I will sometimes use both the Landcape mode and my personal default setting so I can pick the best.

There is also an automatic setting, with preset values for contrast, sharpness, and saturation. When I first got my camera, I customized this automatic setting, overriding the factory preset, to get the look I wanted. That may have something to do with whatever it is you are responding to.

And I always underexpose a little.

Im exhausted sometimes just going through all the submissions visually and I'm continually being distracted by something...seems I never get to comment on all the photos I want to. Thanks so much for your comments! Huggles at you!

I'm so sorry to be 'missing in action' most of the day. I started at 9:30 P.M. tonight to catch up where I left off (page 2!) when my husband and I left the campground with our camper to come home. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the submissions and the many stories of how those shots came about. I hope you all have had a wonderful Saturday; it has been an incredible fall day in Georgia, USA! I am setting my alarm clock for 3:00 A.M. Eastern Standard time to see the predicted meteor shower! Thank you all for taking the time to post and share!

Page 2

Frankie - The rooster shots are so funny and amazing! A day in the life of a rooster! Lol!

Marj - Your shots are wonderful – as always! The photo of Max is incredible!

Sher – We miss you! So glad you stopped by to say “Hello.” Keep us advised on the Tournament progess. You may have already done so as I have just got back from camping and I am starting back at page two at 9:30 P.M.!

Page 3

Amyinsparta – Your photos are great! The kitty shot would make a great greeting card.

Harvey – wonderful shots! The ducks are so vivid and sharp!

Page 4

Harvey – the bird shot is awesome. I wonder what the scenario is? Husband feeding wife; teenage reluctant to leave the nest! Lol!

Lass – Incredible Alaskan shots that I love to see! Love the avatar!

JFantasma – Great shots as always! Beautiful ‘lake in the rain’ shot, and is that an elk or deer?

Page 5

J & Subroto – Thank you for your kind comments!

RR – Were you driving and shooting at the same time?! The moose in the back of the truck has to be a smaller moose? The Scandinavian project is intriguing. Clear and sharp detail in the photos! I just showed those photos to my husband who is fascinated with this kind of construction. He loves old pioneer homes where the hinges are carved out of wood.

Subroto – When did you start painting canvas? Great shot! And I LOVE the Coke shot as well. It is my favorite soft drink, but I swore off soda about 3 months ago. Your photo almost sends me over the edge.

Nan – That sunset is INCREDIBLE! One of those happy times when the camera’s interpretation is acceptable!

Page 7

Nan – Gracie’s bubble is awesome! I love these kind of shots!

Ann – Your shots are lovely! Beautiful capture of bride and groom and the 3rd photo (sunset) is totally awesome!

William – Awesome photos of the motorcycle! Very sharp!

Judy – Great photos! How close were you to that Moose? Scary! The silhouette sunset is gorgeous!

Nan – The old cameras – what a find! So exciting! The albino humming bird is amazing – thanks for sharing your email treasure!

Page 8

Peanut – Thank you for your sweet comment. The crow is amazing!

Subroto – Your portrait with a little ‘William’ inspiration is great!

Wahawk – Thank you for your kind comment!

William – I love the pencil sketch effect!

Pat – Not you, too, with the scary avatar!!! Yikes!

Smcaleer – love the ghostly dog! Lol! The daisies are amazing! Love all your flower shots!

Pat – Your mattress spring photo and effects are really great! Love ~ The little girl and blowing snow are wonderful as well!

Song – Thank you! Good to see you again! I hope someday to photograph hot air balloons! That image is stunning! All your submissions are wonderful!

Fred Ann – Thank you for posting on your trip. I can’t wait to see some of your photos. Great skyline!

Osuzzanhah – What a ‘wow’ reflection!

JoeV – Your photos are ALWAYS ‘Wow!’ Do you use any post processing filters such as Topaz? I can see #3 in a frame on my wall! I missed a photo opp of a Blue Heron yesterday! Great capture.

Captainnormal – Great photos! The colors of the last photo are gorgeous!

Page 12

SheenaghGebhard – Welcome to our ongoing challenge! Your photos of the Golden Retriever are amazing and I would love to see the finished painting! We have a beautiful Golden as well! I hope to see more of your lovely photographs!

Dan – I am often amazed by the quality of the old Black/White photos! They really tell a story, don’t they?

Page 13

Janice – Just look at those stunning flower shots! And the one with the spider ~ WOW!

Page 14

Wahawk – These kinds of opps are my favorite. I had a similar experience this week. Great captures! And the sunsets are gorgeous! I love how you noticed this opportunity in your mirror!

Page 15

Marilyn – Great capture! So that’s how you afford a BMW!!

Pat – That’s the same crescent moon I saw last night! A little cloud action so enhances a sunset, doesn’t it? And I love your Monet.’

Nan – the Llama is awesome!

Page 16

RR – I see nothing wrong with your focus! The tree trunk with the surround fall colors is great!

Redford – Thank you! We would love for you to post some photos sometime!

Ihammer43 – Thank you! I LOVE Sedona! Great photos and thanks for the song, which I have always loved!

Page 17

Seaside – Awesome clear and sharp captures! Is it deer season where you are? Our regular gun season just opened today. Love these kind of unexpected photo opportunities!

Page 18

RR – that first night fog shot is great! Who needs a silly old tripod!

Page 20

Frankie – the squirrel shots are so good, especially the last one. What a great capture on the lake shot – capturing the glassy lake before the wake of the boat hit!!

Dan – Thanks for sharing the wonderful photos of your Granddad and your Grandchildren!

Page 21

IHammer43 – Wow! Winter is setting in quickly, isn’t it? Great captures!

William - Great collage! You just make me smile!

Annette – I’m so sorry you are having to go through this with your Stepdad and I am dismayed to know you have landed in the hospital. Thank you so much for letting us know and you will be in all of our thoughts and prayers!

Macromad - Thank you so much! My Husband and I were camping (just got home) and I was using my iPad. I do have the original on an external drive.

After being gone for 2 days I have some catching up to do.....
I wanted to share this unexpected photo op that really made me happy. I was in the Badlands, the evening would soon be over, and I was following some of the wild horses along the road. They stopped and crossed the road and headed up a small hill. I quickly got out of my vehicle and headed up the hill after them. This one stopped for just a moment and then was off with the others. Then it soon was dark out, but I was happy!

Plessner, that is an incredible photo! Thank you so much for sharing, and be sure to post this photo again, soon! (pg. 2)

Joe, Topaz Labs have a variety of plug-ins for Photoshop and other Software brands that can be used in a variety of ways. One that I have seen used on UHH is to make the colors of a photo more vivid and clear. I thank you and RR for sharing a few of your tips, and I'm glad to know that it doesn't involve expensive plug-ins that I can't afford! Joe and RR, you guys are at the top of my list of admired photographers on this site!

Welcome to the Daily Challenge as we share 'Unexpected Photo Opps!' As an avid amateur photographer, my camera is never far away. I even bought a special camera purse from Rivernan that allows me to discreetly carry my camera everywhere! There have been many times that unexpected photo opportunities have presented themselves to me, and some of my attempts to capture the moment have been successful, but many have not! There's nothing like a missed photo opportunity due to your lack of knowledge about a certain aspect of photography that will send you to your manual or the Internet to look for solutions. That is how I happened upon UHH!

Today, share with us some of those "WOW" moments that blew you away when you uploaded your photos. My 'wow' moments are inferior to many of you with so much expertise and talent. I am honored and humbled everyday to be in the company of so many amazing photographers. I can't wait to see your submissions!
