The first, second and third are amazing! The color contrasts against the blue sky. WOW!

Excellent Pellie shots, Mike! Love to see them soaring.

I know what you mean, Carol, ungainly on the ground, but beautiful in the air.

For lack of a better description they appear to be herding the fish and then dive together.

...it's called group feeding and the white pelicans do it alot. They don't dive from the air like the browns, they "herd" groups of fishies and, er, *then* dive in, lol. I'm no expert, but found a group like this at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands out here, did some googling and caught a fact or three!

The locals inform me that it is very common at Farmington Bay. They do this in the tributaries leading to the main water bodies in the marsh.

Migrating birds have patterns that are interesting. On last Thursday I found the Red Winged Blackbirds usually found in great numbers at Farmington Bay had moved to Bear River. When I got to Farmington Bay, the pelicans had arrived. I am not a pelican expert, but the attached photos show who attended the fly in.

As always, downloads are best.

Great set! BIF shots are really great! Thanx for sharing.
