Or maybe they get it from you tube reviewers. I haven't seen the financial statements for Nikon. Don't know I could make a prediction even if I did. If the Johnny Carson Show was still on , he could ask Swanny!

Most of the time those folks who are preaching doom and gloom just want to spit into the wind, or pull the mask of the lone ranger. I pay them little attention as they are only expressing their OPINION, they are just TALKING HEADS and most of them never post images cause they are not capable of taking a decent image.
Camera companies will be in business long after I am 6 feet under.
I follow the MAD Magazine creed, " WHAT, ME WORRY?"

I really don't think this is true. Most of us are older and I think change bothers us. I know I wish things would go back to the way they were. When I initiated this topic it was not in my mind to make others feel bad. Just hated to see a brand like Nikon struggle. Change isn't always good.

Reading other people's stories can give you inspiration and hope and the confidence you can afford a mirrorless camera from Canon.
Or the leader in mirrorless, Sony!

Still like my dslr's. Electronic viewfinders are hard to use in bright sunlight and invariably have some slight delay over direct view through the mirror.

I would agree and may I add that most of the harsh comments I hear are from rank amateurs who have been told by other rank amateurs that a certain brand is the best. I have been involved in photography since I was 14 yrs old. I have used Kodak box cameras, 35mm film cameras, of numerous 'denominations', medium format, and view cameras. Made a living for my large family for about 20 years with a camera of one kind or another. In the late 80's and early 90's I worked for two different newspapers in northeast Arkansas. They both provided Nikons for their editorial and sales staff. I fell in love with Nikon and own several of them today, along with Canon and Olympus. Is Nikon better, or the best? I don't know, and really who cares! I like how they feel and handle. But, whatever camera I have in my hand, it does not do all the work. That is up to ME. I am the one taking the pictures and the camera is just a tool.
And my feelings on cell phone cameras? Here's how I see it. Everyone wants to take pictures, but not everyone wants to be a photographer. I think that is largely responsible for the loss of market by major camera manufacturers. I know that technically using any device that can capture an image is basically photography, but, to me, a photographer in the broadest sense of the word is someone who loves and studies the craft and educates himself in the use of the equipment and techniques to accomplish the task of good photography.

Send all those crappy, out-dated, useless, primitive, stinkin, rotten old DSLR's to me, I'll give them a loving home, and lots of (at least occassional) use........ don't care what brand, they are all welcome!!!! Mirror inside, no mirror inside, I don't care, longs as it will take a picture, or at least "look good" !!!! I would go on, but don't want to bore anyone with old DSLR crap......
DSLR's, we don't need no stinkin DSLR's......... .. ..

I agree. I was trying to chimp with my d700 some years ago and thought that it was not taking the picture. For now, the Sony a7III has a viewfinder as well as the back viewscreen. There is no lag from button press to picture capture, unlike many lower grade cameras.
There are three responses to a great image: yes, no and mirrorless cameras sure do make nice pictures.
