Can't Help Myself...
We drove to Irvine Regional Park this morning, hoping to find two birds (Varied Thrush and White-throated Sparrow) and always looking for good photo subjects. No luck on the sparrow, but after a long wait, the thrush showed up. Meanwhile, we were enjoying a beautiful day, a soft breeze, and several interesting species (not even counting the Peafowl, which are resident in the park). Here are some highlights, all taken with a Nikon D500, Nikkor 200-500mm telezoom, generally set at f/5.6 and 1/1250 or 1/1600. Just have to keep shooting. Hope you enjoy.

Very nice set, and typical of what the lens can capture.

The Towhee ๐!
Iron Sight...I know just what you mean. I didn't see a Spotted Towhee until about 10 years ago. I was walking through one of the local wildlife refuges and heard a bird singing in a tree right over my head. Backing up, I saw this beautiful bird...black, white and rufous with white spots and a red eye...throwing its head back and belting out its song. My research taught me that this was a Spotted Towhee, and ever since then, I've looked for opportunities to capture their beauty photographically. I think this was one of my better efforts, though there was no song to go along with the photo. Thanks for looking and commenting. Stay well and have a great week and year. jak
