Miles and miles of modern buildings: not my favorite spot in Dubai, but definitely a factor to recognize: in 30 years, Dubai has elevated itself to the highest rank of cities with an abundance of skyscrapers, figuring presently at place 4, behind Hong Kong, Shenzen and New York City.

In this set, I will show some larger clusters as well as some notable individual buildings, and play with a few reflections on the glass facades of these buildings. Burj Khalifa, the most famous of them all will come in tomorrow's post.

These are just a few of the plethora of pictures I took of the modern buildings. If you are particularly interested in seeing more of these, I invite you to go to my photo-website, click on "....Dubai" on line 6 of the chronological tab and you can see plenty more.

I look forward to your comments and questions and recommend viewing the downloads.

A fascinating set of incredible buildings! I must confess that they may be just a little TOO modern for me.

Thank you David for your comment. The buildings are definitely very modern and it is not just a building here and there, but the entire area has been stamped out of the desert ground in these past 30 years.

Your photos are really nice. I'm not much of a city gal, but these buildings are interesting and creative. I like the keyboard one.

Thank you very much Kathy for your nice comment. There is definitely a lot of creativity in the architecture here and I am also at heart not a city guy, even though I lived for too long in or near them.

I am always amazed & encouraged when nations have the courage to build new cities and new beginnings for their people and guests to enjoy. This place is exciting and new and quite attractive. Thanks Joe.

Wonderful photography, but it makes me wonder, with all the wealth that apparently exists in the UAE why isn't more being done to help their Arab neighbors?
