Thanks. Marius is an engineer that travels worldwide. Dubai is a regular on his itinerary. He'll love these. They're great!

Great architecture photos of amazing buildings, Joe. Amazing what can be done to a downtown area when you start from scratch with unlimited funds. They better hope steel and glass stay in vogue.

Thank you John - yes, great modern architecture in a fully planned environment - it is going to be interesting to see how that will play out - but most likely not in our lifetime! Joe

Miles and miles of modern buildings: not my favorite spot in Dubai, but definitely a factor to recognize: in 30 years, Dubai has elevated itself to the highest rank of cities with an abundance of skyscrapers, figuring presently at place 4, behind Hong Kong, Shenzen and New York City.

In this set, I will show some larger clusters as well as some notable individual buildings, and play with a few reflections on the glass facades of these buildings. Burj Khalifa, the most famous of them all will come in tomorrow's post.

These are just a few of the plethora of pictures I took of the modern buildings. If you are particularly interested in seeing more of these, I invite you to go to my photo-website, click on "....Dubai" on line 6 of the chronological tab and you can see plenty more.

I look forward to your comments and questions and recommend viewing the downloads.

Interesting views, Joe, and nicely depicted. However, I found myself thinking that, while each separated building is an incredible architectural wonder, the whole ensemble doesn’t look this striking to me. Again, it is my solely perception. Probably, because of the lack of some kind of a background, say, mountains, the skyline appears (to me) being broken in pieces. Of course, all of these have nothing to do with your personal excellent performance!

Thank you very much Eugene for your nice words. And I think your observation has great merit: I have repeatedly stated in the introduction that, while I like the individual buildings, I find that the whole ensemble does not have any"soul", it leaves me cold. Maybe one of the problems is that there is no backdrop reference like hills or mountains, or a bay around which the buildings are clustered or a common reference point that makes the ensemble complete instead of haphazard. Good thinking Eugene!
