As I said at the time, I realized I was taking a chance, but I figured with my CC and PP, I had some backup. I've been buying online since it was a thing, and this is my first problem.

Jerry - a scam alert I saw on these guys recommended you cancel the CC used. The alert claimed that CoverOU captures and sells your CC info to other scammers.

This is a follow-up.

I realized I was probably taking a chance when I ordered a $51.00 bike from a company in China with an office in FL. The bike never arrived, but they sent a UPS tracking number indicating it was delivered. UPS confirmed the delivery - for a package from Amazon to a different person at a different address.

When I complained to PayPal, they used the UPS confirmation to deny my claim. Through the PayPal online forum, I learned that this is a common practice with this company - Coverou. I wrote a letter (actual paper) to PP explaining the situation, and I included the UPS tracking info, similar incidents mentioned on their forum, and all the other materials I had accumulated. I sent copies to UPS and my credit card bank.

After a couple of weeks, I received an email from PP saying they had re-opened my case. Then I got another email saying they were giving me a refund.

The amount of money wasn't huge, but I was glad to have it refunded. I'm sure it was PP that took the loss, not Coverou, but I'm glad the system worked the way it was supposed to work.
This is a follow-up. br br I realized I was proba... (show quote)

$51 bike from China? Guess you got what you paid for Jerry....I ordered a 1000 piece puzzle from Amazon for my wife during the early stages of this pandemic before I realized it was from China, should have but didn't cancel. Took weeks and weeks to get it and when she did, it was total, total crap. I now make sure whatever I order, if possible, its not from China. I let Amazon know and wrote an appropriate review. Glad you got something back though and PayPal followed up.

Talk about timing, I responded earlier today that I ordered a puzzle in May and did not receive it nor did I get a refund. Believe it or not, it arrived today only a month and a few days past the specified delivery date that I was given. Product ordering often can be a bear to understand.

I wonder how much of the delay was due to the shipper, how much was due to shipping to the US, and how much was due to shipping within the US. I ordered something from Maryland; it was shipped a day later than I had expected, but the USPS got it to Indianapolis faster than I had expected ..... then apparently mis-placed it. It took a rather strange path to our home, arriving three days later than originally estimated, but the ‘loss’ all occurred in the last ‘leg’ of the trip.

I ordered a couple of hats on FB from a Chinese vendor, a buy 2 get 2 free deal. It took over 3 months for them to arrive and they were fine.
I e-mailed the vendor twice while waiting and each time they replied that the order was in transit but was being held up at customs. The first time they told me it would be 6 to 8 weeks for delivery...the second time they said 2 to 4 weeks and they arrived in 3 weeks from that point. So there are good deals and bad deals from China. I guess it’s a dice roll.

With an office in Florida, I had some confidence that it might work. Chinese companies often have their goods in this country for faster shipping. They did a very efficient job of delivering Covid-19.

Ha Ha..love it jerry.

The $95 Roadmaster I have now is fine for what I want - riding on the local raid trail. I have ridden it many miles, and it has yet to fall apart. Buying a $1,000 bike for the same purpose would have been ridiculous.

I'm glad your enjoying your Roadmaster bike. I would never risk bodily injury to save a few bucks. Not meant as an insult.

You've got to try these things, ONCE! I'd liked to have seen a $51 bike.

Living in a hard water area I risked £15.00 on bowl sparkle (might have been advertised here). Suppossed to foam up and remove scale from the sides of the toilet. In fact, it has trouble colouring the water.

£15.00 is cheap for a lesson learned.

WHAT?????? Didn't you read their reviews?? But you right a real waste of money. I sent it back and got the refund.

Where ever you buy a bike from, aren’t all less expensive bikes from China these days?? Are you really saying that you have to buy an expensive bike if you’re going to have one at all??

I never said Jerry wasn't or didn't seem like a nice guy, but with all the trouble he is constantly telling everyone about his computer problems, and computer parts manufacturers that he will never buy from again like Asus and Logitech, two of the best in the business, and shipping problems galore, it seems like Jerry has problems with so many things you begin to wonder if he causes most of these problems himself. I didn't intend for what I posted to be derogatory or nasty, that's your problem if you took it that way. I have tried to give Jerry some help or suggestions in the past about various problems he has posted about, and have always been completely ignored in my attempts to help him, mostly about computer problems, and I know what I'm talking about when I offer someone some help about computers. Lord knows I've built enough of them over the years. I really don't know why you found it necessary to respond to me in such a nasty tone, it didn't concern you anyway. My post was directed to Jerry, not you, besides, I have received nasty comments from you before, so I suppose something about me just ties knots in your underwear. Really, I could care less what you think about anything. You have a good evening and a better tomorrow.

I don’t have a horse in this race but I want to point out that the correct phrase is “I couldn’t care less”. Nothing personal, it’s just a “thing” with me.☹️

I'm sure many bikes are made in China, I haven't been in the market for one in a while. My current bike is a Harley. There are always used ones out there and IMHO if you automatically accept, 'Made in China' then buyer beware. Nothing wrong with supporting American products even if you have to pay a few dollars more. Ex; went to Lowes the other day for a socket head, one made in China was ~$2.50 less than the one made in America....I chose to buy American....Cheers and top of the day to you rehess

I’m glad you were able to find an option labeled “made in USA”. Too often, all options seem to be labeled “made in China”.

Stay well.
