I’m glad you were able to find an option labeled “made in USA”. Too often, all options seem to be labeled “made in China”.

Stay well.

Sometimes I have to work to find it though.

Where ever you buy a bike from, aren’t all less expensive bikes from China these days?? Are you really saying that you have to buy an expensive bike if you’re going to have one at all??

If you think of Taiwan as part of China, some of the most expensive and highest quality bikes are made in Taiwan. There are so many aspects to a good bike like a strong frame that fits your body, gears that stay in adjustment and shift easily, same with brakes, wheels that stay in true, sealed bearings in the hubs and bottom bracket that run free, a seat that doesn't make you impotent, etc. You will not get these in a cheap bike.

So true berchman, some quality stuff out of Taiwan and seriously even China with some of the new camera glass....unfortunately with my bike, I have to take it to the Harley dealer to get it in tune....

I have quit ordering things off of the ads I see on Instagram for this very reason. I ordered 2 tire pumps that were supposed to be USB rechargeable. I have lots of old cars that need airing up from time to time. Three months later no pumps. Went back and forth with the company out of China and finally asked for a refund. Weeks later I got the refund. More weeks later I actually got the pumps. They were plastic pieces of💩 and totally manual. No electronics in them.

This is a follow-up.

The amount of money wasn't huge, but I was glad to have it refunded. I'm sure it was PP that took the loss, not Coverou, but I'm glad the system worked the way it was supposed to work.

Believe me, PayPal did not feel the loss.

I realized I was probably taking a chance when I ordered a $51.00 bike from a company in China with an office in FL. The bike never arrived, but they sent a UPS tracking number indicating it was delivered. UPS confirmed the delivery - for a package from Amazon to a different person at a different address.

When I complained to PayPal, they used the UPS confirmation to deny my claim. Through the PayPal online forum, I learned that this is a common practice with this company - Coverou. I wrote a letter (actual paper) to PP explaining the situation, and I included the UPS tracking info, similar incidents mentioned on their forum, and all the other materials I had accumulated. I sent copies to UPS and my credit card bank.

After a couple of weeks, I received an email from PP saying they had re-opened my case. Then I got another email saying they were giving me a refund.

The amount of money wasn't huge, but I was glad to have it refunded. I'm sure it was PP that took the loss, not Coverou, but I'm glad the system worked the way it was supposed to work.

I'm sure many bikes are made in China, I haven't been in the market for one in a while. My current bike is a Harley. There are always used ones out there and IMHO if you automatically accept, 'Made in China' then buyer beware. Nothing wrong with supporting American products even if you have to pay a few dollars more. Ex; went to Lowes the other day for a socket head, one made in China was ~$2.50 less than the one made in America....I chose to buy American....Cheers and top of the day to you rehess

Good for you. More Americans would be working with your attitude. Unfortunately many Americans buy cheap and don’t even care about country of origin.

Nor do stockholders. As long as the dividends keep coming and the stock price goes up many American investors don’t care where products are manufactures.

That’s true, investors can be shortsighted but a good deal of stocks are invested in 401Ks owned by employees. No jobs, no 401Ks, no dividends, no employees. Countries that consume imports more than they produce fail to grow. Look at Europe for the past 500 years. When was the last time you bought something made in Spain?
