I use Manfrotto tripods, their plate allows connection to a strong d ring on the plate.
I have carried it miles with no issues.
I second that. I have three cameras (with Manfrotto plates) and two Manfrotto tripods. Seamless. And the plates have never come loosened.
I use op tech and love them

I purchased a camera strap that is more secure than the one that comes with cameras. The strap is secured to the camera with a screw that goes into the tripod port. The down side is that it is a pain to put the camera on a tripod now because you have to remove the screw. Anyone know of an easier connection?
Thanks
This is a disaster waiting to happen. A single point of failure. I use the
UpStrap This will not slip and has a two sided shoulder pad, one side smooth and the other side ribbed. I does not slip even on my nylon rain jacket.
It is
strong.
In Europe or So America cities I don't use an of my numerous camera bags, but carry an older shoulder 'tourist' bag. I do use an OpTech black neoprene camera strap attached to the left and right camera strap lugs, but have the strap quite short and not dangling. A robber would really have to confront me to get the camera when I am wearing it , and when I am not shooting (train, subway, bus, meals, etc.) the camera is in the bag . When I leave the hotel room, the camera and bag are locked in my suitcase.

Longshadow, I'm happy and proud of my Canon 5DII, 'advertising' it does not "make my day".
I love the Peak Design straps as well. Little problems with compact cameras but great otherwise.
If you have an Arca Swiss system, Peak design makes a camera clip that has an Arca Swiss plate that makes the functional process seamless. You may want to take a look.
Guzer02....thank you so much
