I purchased a camera strap that is more secure than the one that comes with cameras. The strap is secured to the camera with a screw that goes into the tripod port. The down side is that it is a pain to put the camera on a tripod now because you have to remove the screw. Anyone know of an easier connection?

Thanks

I use Manfrotto tripods, their plate allows connection to a strong d ring on the plate.
I have carried it miles with no issues.

I switched to that type of camera strap mounting years ago and always had the same problem. Eventually I found an Arca Swiss plate with a flip-out connection that the clip on the strap could attach to.

I went from the Black Rapid type of connection to the Op Tech straps ...

They may work for you ...

Buy some OpTech snaps that attach to the camera lugs. Put one on you strap and one on a lug and you will have a quick disconnect strap for about $7 cost. I got some from B&H.

If you use a RRS plate the newer ones have a hole for a military grade quick release. I use those on my straps and the QR piece costs about $12-15 from RRS. Use both of these and you have double security. That’s what I do for my 1Dx2.

Use an L-plate on the camera and a compatible quick-release clamp on the tripod.

I have used a Black Rapid sling strap on all my cameras for years now...all my tripods use an Arca Swiss clamp and I have Arca Swiss plates on my lenses and a Black Rapid 70mm Plate with Black Rapid connect-r on my camera - never needing to remove the screw to mount on a tripod, just disconnect the BR carabiner and slide the plate into the clamp.

I have "D" rings on the strap lugs on the camera and use my old wide denim strap with clips.
Clip it on for neck/shoulder carry, clips off for hand strap carry.

Some of the cross-body straps have screws that have tripod threads underneath so you don't have to remove the plate under the camera when using a tripod. Mine does. Maybe you can replace your screw with one of those with bottom threads. Amazon carries them; Adorama might also.

Just take care to keep the rig balanced on top of the tripod until you're confident in the screw's stability.

You are getting outstanding recommendation. Should you plan to travel soon (don't we all wish we could right now?), but sure to -not- use a camera strap that has the brand of camera printed on it. Some things are best not to advertise.

When traveling in Europe, we were cautioned of thieves that love to steal cameras. Hence, my caution to not 'advertise' your camera when traveling. AND, I suppose you can really ignore this, since I suspect none of us are planning on doing any long distance traveling. And travel to Europe? Us American's are blocked from the EU, at the moment.

I ALWAYS use non-descrip straps. Threw my gaudy "brand" straps away.

Longshadow, I'm happy and proud of my Canon 5DII, 'advertising' it does not "make my day".
