I do not use any type of enhancement software. My photos are printed at a photo kiosk SSOC.

Image has multiple meanings depending on the setting in which used. “He projected am image” could mean: he was operating a slide image onto a screen: or he strutted in his fancy cap.

Us amateur astrophotographers are a Hoity Toity bunch and we have to use image instead of picture or photo because it confirms our suspicions that We are somehow above all the fray. 🤓🔭🤪

I think that thoughts are changing by the years! A photographer captures scenes or memories with his camera and the final product is called a photo. In the Dot Com World today an iminator(?) takes his digitizer to collect images and the output is called images or graphic art! Will we say today we are going on an Images Safari to capture images of wildlife? I’m old school in the Dot Com World! I call myself a photographer, using a camera (digital) to capture photos and edit them on a computer (modern darkroom) and if the work (image as the pc calls them images in the various directories) stays on the pc I still refer to it as photos. MTC.

Sounds "classier" and more "artistic" or "elegant" than photo, picture, pic or shot... They're all interchangeable at the user's discretion.

I don't think a rose can "buy" any other name.

My thoughts exactly, especially after the processing.

Images are images...regardless of the medium: photograph, etching, drawing, watercolor, pastel, oils , finger painting, sand mandalas, realistic representational or surrealistic renderings, doodles on a napkin or envelope...(not meant to be a complete list...!)

As such, there are many features common to them all that are our bases for considering image quality: impact, composition, detail rendition, contrast, tonal and color characteristics and management. The image is a common medium of artistic/ creative expression and use of the term “image” merely recognizes their common features and attributes and their essentially universal appeal as a means of personal creative expression.

Don't forget the category of Medical Imaging - x-rays, scans of various types (MRI, CT, PET, etc.), sonograms, ...

I would have to say that a picture or a photograph is something that is on film and an image Is something that is digital.

No, calling photos "images" way predates digital. And both "picture" and "image" are terms that include much more than just photographs.
