Pg 1 - Good ones, Bob! I was wondering what most people would do today with the display of their flags. Tradition calls for the flag to be flown at half-staff from dawn to noon, and then raised briskly to full-staff at noon. (Half-staff for those that perished who served in the military and at full-staff to those still living/serving.)

But the President said to fly flags at half-staff to honor those that perished from COVID-19.

An interesting note, while half-staff and half-mast are often used interchangeably, half-mast should be used when referring to Navy vessels or Navy bases.

Thanks Tim.....Just getting around to reviewing what's been happening this Memorial Day with posts. It's after midnight and we've had a nice day enjoying some family members with being social, games and eating! So I'm afraid I'm way behind on making comments, but there have been many beautiful, patriotic pictures coming across.....so I'm really impressed.

Thanks for the information on flags flying at half-mast or half-staff. Interesting and informative. Much appreciated!

Thanks once again Tim. I wanted it to be respectful for this challenge and your kind words are appreciated. As stated earlier......everyone's been doing a great job in that area with this challenge.

In the US this is Memorial weekend - a time to remember the sacrifices men and women have made so our flag remains flying over a free land. Other countries have similar celebrations. Because we are a diverse, international group, post your flags, post your remembrance day observances where you are. Here's one to get the challenge started. I believe I have posted this before.

Nice start off Pat - THANKS for hosting. Like your flag here.

Very touching photos here, I live in Canada but served in the USN fpr eight years. My grandfather served in the Spanish-Amrican War and my gr-grandfather served in the Civil War, and he was born in Canada and became an American Citizen after the war.

p.9 Nice set, Tim. Was that someone dressed as a "sculpture"? If so, you captured commentary on today's society - a photojournalist story.

Pg 3 - Great set, Pat. I was trying to figure out how old that truck was; judging by the steering wheel and other knobs and gauges, it looks like it's a '40 or '50 something truck, but then I saw the shifter, which indicates it a five speed...most trucks of that vintage were three, and sometimes four, speeds....regardless, love the image!

Tim

I don't know. Spied it at a meet years ago and thought it was cool

Hi PAT......the wind was controlling those flags and I was probably waiting for them to be really flying. The 1st photo shows more variety in the flags. Actually had 4 shots to complete the circle, but felt 3 were plenty. I agree that The Korean Memorial is a little spooky! I didn't share the reflection photo because it has that look to it, but will add it here. Sorry.....but it was interesting when we visited.

p.10 The reflection shot is wonderful. In so many ways the Korean conflict was spooky - wasn't it dubbed the "forgotten war" or something like that? The architect/artist really captured the the essence of the conflict well.

p.11 Hi, Transbuff Bob, Wonderful additions. It is so sad that war and conflict have to be part of life.

p.11 Hiker, so sorry. What a wonderful friend you are and he must have been. I wonder if there is any family that hasn't been touched by loss of loved one to war.
