As far as Transportation goes......this is one of those......Whatevers! Following 9 days at sea while on our way to Barcelona from Florida we arrived at the island of Madeira (Funchal) in Portugal. (April 2016) We had a tour that included a ride down the hillside on one of these toboggans/sleds. They have been doing this here for over 100 years.
Each toboggan has 2 guys who hop on and off to guide us down the hill. They use ropes and their feet to steer and brake as needed. The men have special shoes that are designed to give traction down the steep, narrow, twisting streets. Both their shoes and the runners on the sleds have to be replaced every few weeks. Local factories handle those jobs.
My goal here will be to share a bit of the feeling you might get while riding down these regular neighborhood streets, with not too much traffic! No where else can one do this so it's a once in a lifetime thrill and I'm happy to have done it. Please enjoy a tiny bit of this virtual experience. Bob

Love your motion shot. I've never seen a elliptical bicycle but from your photo I can imagine how involving it would be.

On an XL Honda!!!!
Thanks.
Sure was. I had a 4 week holiday and I thought I would have a ride north (from Sydney). After a week I was in Townsville, so I thought I would turn left. Made it back to Sydney, via Port Augusta and Broken Hill ok.
jcsnell, My wife and I had a '72 Satellite Sebring when we got married. It had a 318 in it and it was quite the runner, and it got amazing gas mileage. Not sure why we traded it, but we did. I remember it fondly.
BurghByrd, Couple of nice bikes. I have a Road Glide Ultra and love it. It is my fun transportation as the wife is no longer interested in riding with me. It rovides me with the wind therapy I need on occasion.
Nice photos, thank you both foer sharing.
