The Durango/Silverton Narrow gauge Steam Engine railroad. During the summer months the town of Durango run 3 different type of 1920's steam engines up the the old silver mining town of Silverton. They were used to bring down the silver and gold from the ore mines in the San Juan mountains. Today its a awesome trip from Durango to Silverton and have a option to take a bus ride back.

So cool looking....I love these old locomotives. They are so iconic . beautiful countryside.

Great shots. If I take the train to Silverton and return by coach, is there a preferred side of the train or coach to sit on for views and photos? Thanks

I remember riding this train with my family when I was around 10. Great trip for any age.

Very neat photos, Rusty. Especially like the second one, but you must have run like a deer to get ahead of it after the first :)

Wonderful composition and point-of-view! The lower camera angle on #2 really adds a lot to the interest and dynamic of the image. Nicely done!
