The Durango/Silverton Narrow gauge Steam Engine railroad. During the summer months the town of Durango run 3 different type of 1920's steam engines up the the old silver mining town of Silverton. They were used to bring down the silver and gold from the ore mines in the San Juan mountains. Today its a awesome trip from Durango to Silverton and have a option to take a bus ride back.

Very nice! I did that ride in 2009 and rode the train to Silverton and took the coach back. The road route is different from the rail route and one sees different things from each.

Nice pair from the good old days. I miss those steam trains with their beautiful shrill steam whistle. I grew up on a farm with a RR track nearby. Miss that chuff chuff and whistle.
