Sometimes when there is snow on the ground, which is a rare occurrence in NC, there may be as many as 20 of them sitting in the beauty bush waiting for their turns on the feeders. My wife says it looks like a Christmas tree with ornaments. It's really strange how some of them get conditioned to "their" own feeder. I have 7 feeders of varying shapes and sizes, and some of the cardinals will just sit and wait for me to refill their preferred feeder!
No, it was $1399. and it's now on sale at Nikon for $1249. So while you are home quarantined, this is a great time to push the buttons and order one.....
I buy a 50-lb bag of black sunflower seed from my local hardware store and it lasts me about 3 weeks during the winter and spring. Then during the summer, I don't feed them because I want them to hunt down worms and caterpillars, etc to keep them off my garden plants. I tell them that they gotta sing and work for their food.....ha ha
I think you are correct. I have also noticed that they will come and sit on the window ledge like they are asking me to refill their favorite feeder, even though the others have plenty of seed. It's odd, but I feel like I am being trained here.....
