Nicely done! You must have a good camera

Ha ha. Actually, I do. Bought a Z6 this past Fall for my grandkids soccer games at night. Then I started using it for the local high school basketball and volleyball games. It is a beaut for shooting sports at the high ISO values from dim gyms and night time lighting. I like it as well as my D3s. I haven't had much opportunity to shoot outdoors with it, so I want to learn this while I am quarantined. I am really susceptible to pollen in the spring and have to take 2 meds to treat the symptoms--sometimes it's so bad my eyes continuously drip and I get really congested. So I stay indoors in the spring anyway from the pollen, and the COVID-19 has not really contributed much to my quarantining.

I raised the bathroom window to get these BOF shots

Since I can't get decent BIF (birds in flight) today, I thought I'd get some BOF (birds on feeder)

All shots were Nikon Z6, 1/1000 sec, f/5.6 at 500mm with 200-500mm f/5.6 Nikkor lens

I recently purchased the same lens but it's rained so much here I really haven't had the opportunity to put the lens to the test. Did you have to fine-tune your 200-500?

NO...sorry to be so emphatic, but I did not fine tune. I never fine tune any lens. If they back or front focus, I send them back to the vendor with an explanation. They are in warranty and I will surely return them for refund if they don't perform. I will start an argument I know, but I think that fine-tuning in cameras is a bunch of marketing crap. The one time I got it to fine tune was limited only to that lens at that focal length and that distance. The other times, it was not successful. So I see it as nothing but a gimmick. If the lens won't focus perfectly, then send it back. The longest time I have been without a lens was from Sigma--3 weeks-- and I made due. I will probably send my 70-200 lens back as soon as Nikon opens up. I noticed it was a bit soft at the 200mm length and there is a "scrape" sound in the barrel when I zoom it to that distance.

Excellent series with wonderful detail! I prefer female cardinals over the males as their plumage is much more interesting.

Is that because they are females and visit the beauty parlor more often?
