Maybe I'm just lucky but the service I get from both FedEx and UPS is generally excellent.

If they are not running late. "Generally" is the key, for me too.
I have the same account. The issue in my case I live in a rural area...what a pain. Not where I live, the service.

Involved in the courier industry in Australia for 30+ years, from delivery driver upwards. Lost count of the number of complaints claiming I, when a driver, did not knock, when my knuckles were almost raw! One commercial delivery point would only respond after I leaned on the bell until they opened the door. And they would be furious! As well as being unbelievably ignorant!

Two sides to every story. And the number of people who are not home to receive their deliveries, and know they will not be home! Makes the delivery driver's job just that more difficult. Then you have incorrect street/apartment numbers. And on it goes.

Tends to work out about 50/50. The number of incompetent delivery drivers is very similar to the number of incompetent senders and receivers.

What a nightmare I am experiencing getting my camera body and three lenses back from service.
First attempt “by end of business day”. So much for the “end” part. I was out riding my horse at 10:45 a.m. when they made the first delivery attempt.

Second attempt with same timeframe both my husband and I were home...he outside with the RV running (he does monthly service checks) and me 30’ from the front door tidying our indoor/outdoor porch. He saw nothing and I heard nothing. Obviously the driver didn’t make much of an attempt. I immediately called FedEx to complain and said WTF...how could he have missed us? Offered the option to have package left at local dropzone by 6 p.m.....guess what...package was never dropped.

Called FedEx again. By this time I was losing patience, getting frustrated and increasingly concerned about my expensive gear taking an east coast tour. Was told driver would make second attempt that evening. Three guesses (first two don’t count): no package.

It is now 6 a.m. on Day 3... do I know where my package is? Guess....see previous sentence above.

I am disgruntled, worried and expect to spend the day sitting on my front stoop...in the rain...with signs lining my (longish) driveway saying (in red ink)...hey FedEx guy, I’m here. Call me! Written in caps.

Moral of the story: think twice before requiring a signature. I thought I was doing the prudent thing, but it has come back to bite me in the *ss.

I have had similar problems with FedEx. Wish there was an alternative. Once, the driver didn't really even attempt to deliver. My wife was receiving a package from a different FedEx truck at the time the signature required driver was updating the delivery as "no one home". I did get it delivered the next day after chewing the supervisor a new one, but it boiled down to the driver just being in too much of a hurry to get home and just skipping me! And, by the way, it showed up on my door the next day, but they did not knock or get a signature!

What part of “we were both home yesterday” didn’t you understand? They STILL didn’t deliver it and, fwiw, I had just learned that morning a dear friend had died in a scuba diving accident. Riding soothes my soul.

Or have I misinterpreted your response...

Interesting, as only moments before we had received a Chewy package. At first I thought the driver simply forgot to unload a second package.

You can set up what alerts you want. I have mine set so that I get a robocall when a delivery is made since I seldom hear the driver knock. If he even does, which I doubt unless a signature is required. In that case I post to my acct directions to go to a different door. Works just fine for me. I always get a call within minutes so packages don't sit on my porch even though that has never been a problem on the dead end road I live on.

Yes, I have an account but in this case I don’t think that mattered. From other people’s response I suspect the driver never pulled down the driveway.

FURTHER UPDATE: apparently, I need to be at two places today in order for delivery to occur. Just received conflicting texts from Fed Ex...one saying it’s being delivered to my address, one saying it’s getting delivered Monday, the third saying it’s going to a drop site. Having lost all confidence my new worry is I will go to drop site only to discover they attempted delivery at home.
FedEx right hand doesn’t know what it’s left hand is doing.

This is why I try only to use UPS. They are somewhat better, although they will deliver and say you signed for it. However, if you have an account, you can get texts updating you when the delivery should be made within a couple of hours. They have shown to be pretty good about that and text when delivery has been made. I have received such a text while home and did not know they are delivered the package until the text arrived.

They’re supposed to leave a door tag when they attempt a delivery and nobody answers, so I suspect no door tag means they were never really there.

Today, is the third and final attempt....unless I believe the third contradicting text saying it will arrive Monday.

I get texts. Problem is, today I got THREE texts in a row...all saying different things!

I pretty much stopped buying major items from B&H since they went to FedEx. Amazon either delivers with Amazon Delivery or UPS. These services work very well in my area.
