My wife and I are going to spend a few days in Key West.I'm trying to decide if I will need to take any lens other than my 16 to 80. I do have 2 powerful zoom lenses but I'm not crazy about carrying all that weight. Do you think I can get by with my 16 to 80 m m? Many thanks for your responses.
Wouldn't it depend on what and how you like to shoot?
I'm guessing the 16-80 would be fine.
Been there several times, & even spent a Summer there. - I doubt you'll be needing a whopper lens, because most of what you'll be taking photos of are easily within the 16mm-80mm range, as in 'Street Photography'. - (It IS a relatively small Island, with lots of interesting people from all over)
Don't miss Sunset at Mallory Square, at the Cruise-Ship Docks, where there are many Street Performers and crowds that gather shortly before Sunset, and of course, there's always 'Duval street', the main drag.
(Personally, I'd prefer to have my 16-270mm Tamron Zoom, which would cover almost any need.)

Thanks so much. With that being the case I may also take my 70-200 also

Last time I was there I was using my similar Canon 15 to 85 lens and I didn't feel I needed anything wider or longer. I'm guessing you'll probably be more interested in wide-angle shots rather than telephoto.

Key West: Street photography and Sunsets.
16 to 80 should be very good.

Don't think you'll need it. I've taken a 70-200 on trips which stayed in the camera bag. Typically 95% of what I shoot is with a 24-70.

I've only been there a couple of times, and my 35-105mm was all I needed. Your 16-80mm will be fine. Remember, you will be doing a lot of walking and the streets will be crowded. I wouldn't want to be lugging around big and heavy. Duval St. is the main tourist trap area. It's fun to walk, but don't get stuck there. My favorite bar/restaurant there is the Schooner Wharf bar on Williams St. As mentioned before, Mallory Square at sunset is a lot of fun. Enjoy yourself.

In total agreement.

Leave the telephotos at home. Mostly you will be doing scenics, some sunsets, street photography, and some architectural shots. Don't miss the Hemingway House.

Been there more than ten times on my boats most if the time so there with all my gear. That said Leave the “big zooms” home for key west. There is little reason to need a longer reach than 80mm

That lens would probably be adequate for most things, but there may be the occasional shots that you might want to take of boats out on the water.

What are you going to shoot? Wildlife? Landscapes? People?
The 16-80 if mounted on a cropped sensor camera will give you and field of view of 24-120 mm. This lens IMHO would do for Key West.
But if your going to shoot wildlife, take a longer lens.
