Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED Zoom is an excellent lens and will work well on your D7000.

I loved my 16-85 with my d7000. It was the lens I used the most on our 6 week National Park tour. The results were outstanding in my view.

I think most the responders never got pass wide angle.
They passed up on "an all around lens"
Years ago I had a Nikon D90 and an 18-200MM lens. Based on your request for an "all round lens" take a look at this all around lens.

Nikon 18-200 is a nice compact sharp and versatile lens. When I had Nikons, I just about never took it off the camera. 18-200 covers about 90% of situations.

I believe you mean the AF-P 10-20mm VR DX, which is not compatible with a D7000.
The AF-S 10-24mm DX Nikkor would work just fine on a D7000, but it's also quite expensive at almost $800.

Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5.... $329 (rather big, heavy).
Tokina AT-X 11-16mm f/2.8.... $379 (discontinued, narrow zoom range)
Tokina AT-X 12-28mm f/4... $430

Tokina 11-20mm f/2.8 - Great lens for DX systems AND can also be used on FF without vignetting from 16mm onwards.

I'm looking for a wide angle for my D7200. Came back from Italy slightly disappointed with the results of my Nikon 16-85 mm. At 16 mm, still missing the ability to pull back and get a good overall view of the beautiful architecture. Sometimes having to stand with my back to the wall across streets to get a somewhat decent shot. Have been looking at the Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM. I know a bit of a super wide at 8mm but I'd also like to experiment with the creative aspect of that too. Anyone have experience with that lens?

I'm happy with the Nikon 10-24mm which is wider than the 12-24.
At $797 (or $549 refurbished at B&H) it costs less than the 12-24 at $1147 (or $749 refurbished.)

I also have this well rated lens and agree.
Not knowing your other lenses, it is hard to recommend anything and know how it will fit in.
I have the "all purpose" Sigma 18-300mm Macro lens as a walk around and it fits most occasions and love it. It is only $400 new. Both are DX lenses.

I use a Nikon 17 - 35 f2.8 on my D500, which gives an effective focal length range of 25 - 52.

I am another happy user of 12-24mm DX lens. Yes, it's expensive new but you can find good used one for under $350. That's what I did and I am happy with my choice.

I'm a fan of Prime lenses so I'd suggest a New or Used

If you think that you will move to a full frame camera eventually, either Nikon DSLR or mirrorless, I would consider a Nikon 16-35 f4. The Nikon Dx wide angle offerings (10-20 & 10-24) are nice lenses as well if you think you will stay with the 7000 or other Dx offerings.
