Have the Tamrom lense and have been using it for several months with my Nikon - works very well.

Some suggestions, please, a wide angle lens for my Nikon D7000 - I’m a casual photographer, it’d be great if it were an all around lens........
No matter what lenses your considering, before purchasing take a gander at the MTF curve for your selection, this will give you an excellent idea of what you can expect, quality wise from your lens selection edge to edge.
If you haven't already considered it, think about an Aspherical lens. I use a 15-30 3.5 and its fantastic. The edges are crisp and sharp as is the center.
I've found that lenses are not the place to budget purchase.
If it hasn't already been mentioned, you can't go wrong with the new Tamron 10-24mm. It's the perfect range. You'll end up using the 24mm end as much as anything wider when shooting landscape.
I have the original iteration of this lens and it stays on my D7000 while I use the 24-70mm primarily on my D800.

I'm looking for a wide angle for my D7200. Came back from Italy slightly disappointed with the results of my Nikon 16-85 mm. At 16 mm, still missing the ability to pull back and get a good overall view of the beautiful architecture. Sometimes having to stand with my back to the wall across streets to get a somewhat decent shot. Have been looking at the Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM. I know a bit of a super wide at 8mm but I'd also like to experiment with the creative aspect of that too. Anyone have experience with that lens?

hi
just my tuppence worth ie lens I use a Meike/Samyang 8mm F3.5 Wide Angle Fisheye Lens for Nikon D7100 D800 F-mount Cameras from ebay around £170 uk with the crop factor 1.5 12mm on a dx
manual focus . but for getting it all in its a great cheapy . make sure you have small shoes coz they get in the picture. I use a sigma 24-70mm f2.8 as go to all but carry the 8mm to fill in the gaps. then set lens profile in lightroom to straighten up.

Budget? That said, I like my Tamron 17-50 F2.8....
Agreed. The Tamron 17-50 is a great medium wide to regular lens. Love the 2.8 constant aperture. Basically lives on my D90.
A question I have is what lens are you currently using? I’m not sure what kit lens came with the D7000, but many of these suggestions are pretty much in the range covered by most kit lenses. What range are you looking for? I can speak to the quality of the Tokina 11-16mm. The others I know nothing about.

He asked about a wide-angle and most suggestions are for a super-wide.... My Superwide is an older Sigma 10-20 F 4-5.6. I didn't need the faster one as it is usually stopped down anyway.
I second that. This is an EX lens and is beautifully made.

On a DX camera like the D7000 you would want to go to a 24mm or wider lens.
I’d recommend a 16mm as a starting point.

I have a 18-140mm Nikon on my D7200. Along with the 12-24 f4 dx. I like them both. The 18-140 has vr and is not bad at all and cheap.
I used that lens for years on my crop nikons. Nice and sharp, with great contrast
