Thank you, thank you - I didn't expect such quick response - going to look at them all - thanks!!
for wider angle, try to shoot panorama and stitch them with freeware ICE. You could be amazed with the result without adding any new gear.
How wide are you looking for? I’ll second the vote for Tokina. The 11-16 f/2.8 is a classic and built like a tank. I also have a Tokina 12-28, which borders on the “everyday” focal range.
I have a 14 mm, Rokinon, f2.8, manual focus lens for Nikon. I am selling it since I am now using Sony camera/lenses. It sells for $349 at BH, I am asking $300 plus shipping in cont USA. PM me if interested.

Some suggestions, please, a wide angle lens for my Nikon D7000 - I’m a casual photographer, it’d be great if it were an all around lens........
The Nikon DX AF-P 10-20mm has become a popular wide angle lens for crop sensor cameras. However, before considering it. Check to see if Nikon has a firmware for the D7000. If not, you will have to choose another one that is compatible. Good luck.

I have several wide zooms that I like. My favorites are the Nikon DX 12-24 f4 G ED, heavy but fast with an angle of view of 18-36 mm on your D7000.
I also like my DX 10-24 3.5-4.5 G ED, which has a wider angle of view of 15-36 mm on your D7000 and about the same weight as the 12-24.
Nikon also makes the Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Lens
, which is the least expensive of the three zooms and currently on sale at $276.00. It is the slowest but lightest of the three but very sharp and gets good reviews from it's owners.
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1341603-REG/nikon_20067_af_p_dx_nikkor_10_20mm.html?sts=pi&pim=YYou should also consider the Nikon 16-80 2.8-4 E ED lens, has an angle of view of 24-120 mm on your D7000 and has more reach, it is a carry all day, do most things lens.
Then finally there is the 8-15 3.5-4 ED, it is a FF wide angle zoom that will work on your D7000, is would have an angle of view of 12-22.5 mm on your D7000. You would get vignetting at 8 to 10 mm, so you would only have a 15-22.5 mm angle of view on your D7000.
If I could only buy one (I own all four) it would be the the Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Lens.
The 18-200 is also a great all purpose lens for your D7000 but is only has an angle of view of a 27 mm lens on your D7000. But covers a nice range of 27-300 and has excellent sharpness. Get the II version of this lens.
To me it all depends on focal length coverage and how wide I want to go. Many photographers are perfectly happy when using a cropped sensor with any of the zoom lenses starting at 18mm.
Nikon has a 12-24 f4 AFS lens that is very sharp and very well corrected for lens aberrations. Tokina manufactures at a lower price excellent wide angle lenses and the 11-16 f2.8 comes to mind for cropped sensors. Tokina also has a very nice 16-28 f2.8 lens for full frame.
Nikon has the 14-24 f2.8, a very expensive lens and the 16-35 f4 VR both for use with full frame cameras.
If you are a "casual shooter", a used 16-85 f3.5-5.6 would be both wide enough and long enough to be your "all-around" lens. A used one can be had for around $400. If you have the dough, and want higher quality, the newer 16-80 f2.8-f4 VR can be had new for $1,500.00. (Don't waste your time/$ on the heavy, clunky, old-tech, non-VR 17-55 f2.8). That said, my original 18-55 lens had all the wideness, longness, sharpness, closeness, lightness, fastness, inexpensiveness I needed for most of my shooting for many years, and cost but a pittance compared to these other lenses.
I use the Sigma 10-20 on my D7000 and D7200 bodies. It’s a great lens. A call it my wide wide. Compositions with this type of lens require a different approach than lenses with a lesser field of view to get the most out of their expansive view and great DoF. They’re definitely not a walk around lens. You have to be looking for subjects that can give you a unique perspective.

I would consider the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-F4 lens. I have the 17-50 F2.8 and really like it but the little longer reach may come in handy.
definitely my favorite I have also used the Samyang 16mm f2 manual focus - also a very GOOD lens but takes good technique to get the best out of it.

Use the AF P Nikkor 10-20 4.5 5.6 G on my D 7200. Small, light, relatively inexpensive. I have been quite pleased with it.

Casually, of course, there is no such thing as a wide angle walk around lens. Will you ask us about telephoto close-up lenses? They do not exist either. This is not meant to confuse but some photographers will make a wide angle lens a walk around lens also. This same photographer will also use a telephoto lens for a walk around lens. Since walk around lenses only occur in the mind only you may use whatever you find comfort in as a walk around lens. In short, ANY lens is capable of being used in a walk around purpose, IF you know how to use it. as such.
