In this installment we are in Madrid, the capital of Spain. I can't explain exactly why, but it seemed like Madrid did not have the abundance of great photo ops as some of the other places we visited. Still, it was a large and interesting city, and I was able to capture some images that I thought worthy of posting. Comments welcome and I hope you enjoy.
#1 The Plaza Mayor (Main Square), a huge open plaza in the middle of Madrid. A great place to sightsee, eat, and just stroll around.

#4 The former Royal Palace. We just saw it from the outside the first evening, but toured the inside the next day.

#5 A typical street scene in Madrid. All the places we visited were very pedestrian and bicycle friendly.

#6 As usual, I could not pass up a shot of a beautiful fountain.

#10 Part of the interior of the palace. Several areas were off limits to photography, so I took advantage of those that were available.

Lovely! I visited Madrid in 2016 and 2017 and saw some of the same sights. Did not tour the palace, though.
Tom, I know seeing this can’t be as good as being there, but your wonderful shots have come close.

I agree with your comment ...Madrid did not have the abundance of great photo ops as some of the other places..... Madrid has lots of impressive public buildings, but I find them rather photographically boring - although you did well. There is a maze of interesting alleys or 'Calle' just Southwest of Sol with some really cool bars and tabernas with elaborate tile facades - some with rather bawdy scenes.
You can get some great street shots too. Madridians love to parade and march and protest. When we were there in April we encountered a 'legalize marijuana' protest march. There were thousands of marchers all smoking corona sized joints. We had to squeeze into a shop entrance porch to let them pass but it quickly filled up with smoke. It was a good trip - I mean the trip to Madrid was good!
Segovia and Toledo are easy day trips from Madrid and much more photographically rewarding.
Nice shooting; interesting.
I was there back in the 70's and thoroughly enjoyed the city - even though I'm not a city person.
Thank you for the tour ❣️👍🤗👍🤗
Very good series, Tom, thanks for the tour.
Wow, what a beautiful series Tom, I don't have a favorite, all are super nice.
