How many SX 40 owners are there?

I didn't read all 13 pages of this topic (because it seemed to get side-tracked from the original subject), and this has probably already been mentioned by others...
The #1 reason that I upgraded to the SX40 from my S5 was the noise reduction resulting from the new processor. As much as I love my S5, the upper limit is pretty much ISO 400 as far as noise is concerned (200 if you're outside on a sunny day!). It is so nice to have that increased range from the higher ISOs! Not quite DSLR-equivalent, but a whole lot better than just a few years ago.

Believe it or not I take most pic's with it set on SCN on dial and then rotate to landscape. Zoom away, I found that I can stand 5 ft or so away from subject like pic above, and just zoom in. Give it a try.

Thanks Wahawk & Elibra,
This shot was one of those lucky circumstances. We were at Cades Cove in the Smokies, in back of one of the old churches. The bird was scratching around in the leaves and then flew up into a tree. I took several shots; this was one of two that came out quite well. I didn't even see the bugs in its beak until that evening when I downloaded the day's shots to my netbook!
BTW, this shot was cropped to about 40% of the original image area.
