New to me Spotmatic.....
I have a Honeywell Pentax H-3, purchased in 1962. Led to my first job in a camera store.
Really impressive to see the history many here have with the Spotmatic camera.
My first "real" camera as well. Wish I still had it just for a keepsake Sold all of my Pentax equipment years ago when I moved to Nikon. Pentax LX was a great camera as well.

When I was younger, I heard "funny" stories of screw-mount lenses not 'catching' and rolling down a mountainside. By the time I purchased my first Pentax {1979} I was grateful they had switched to a bayonet mount, but cameras like that are what paved the way to the K-mount cameras I've owned.
Bought my first REAL 35mm asahi spotmatic in Japan in 1966. Took several hundred slides in Japan and used the camera for several years until the film transfer mechanism stripped. Great camera until then. Moved on to Canon F1 in 1974. Still have it and it still works.

I have the Asahi Pentax S3 which I think is the same as your H-3.
That is an amazing thread.... Thanks for linking.
I bought one shortly after they came out with a motor drive, with which the battery pack was set up for AA's instead of the rechargeable battery. Evidently they were uncommon as I sold the camera & drive on eBay a little while back, for more than I paid originally, to a collector in Australia.

It is amazing how popular Pentax was with the military, it seems that for many of you guys stationed overseas in the 60's and 70's this was a very popular camera.
The Asahi version was available in the PX in 1969. Against the advice of my buddy the base photographer I bought the Spotmatic instead of the SRT-101, which cost $20 more. Minolta lenses cost more, too. But as a result I spent the next 20+ years with the screw mount lenses (Takumar 50 mm and 135mm).

Couldn't resist posting this, my newest addition, a Spotmatic with a 1:1.4/50.
A Pentax Spotmatic F was my second SLR back in 1972 - ish. It replaced my Practica Nova 1B, which had been given to me my a friend. The Spotmatic was replaced by an Olympus OM1 in about 1975 - ish.
My collection Of Pentax Spotmatics all work but the light meter batteries are dead and I was told they no longer make them due to the type of chemicals that were used. Do anyone of you have a solution for me getting new batteries?
Thanks for your reply.

Do you know what battery was originally called for?
My first and only analog SLR was the Pentax Spotmatic 2 I still have a super takamar f4 300mm and it is as smooth as glass, the workmanship is outstanding it is as if it was bought yesterday rather then over 40 years ago.
