Pentax used a better lubricant than most manufacturers back in the day, you can pick up a Asahi Pentax Takumar 135mm f/3.5 which is an excellent lens in like new condition on ebay for less than $50, often around $30.

Great photo of some fine equipment! I loved my Spotmatic, and only used the spot metering window at the bottom, never the "average"...

The first 35 mm camera I used was a SP 500, my father's. It is still working and on the shelf when I want to shoot B&W film. I also have a K-1 and K-3 which I use or the majority of my photography.

I wish I still had my Spotmatic that I got in 1967. I loved the Spotmatic, but someone loved it more than I did, I guess, and made me an offer I couldn't refuse, so I sold it. Great camera. I do have a Pentax MX, though. One of these days I'll get the light seal strips replaced. I hope I can still get batteries for it.

Took a lot of great pictures with that camera. I still have it for memories sake. Just can’t get rid of it.

I belong to a Facebook Takumar lens group and one of the members there has an old Tele Takumar 500mm f/4.5 looks almost as big as my Canon lens that he is having quite a bit of fun with.

However, last night I shot around 223 pics at a Girl Scout Awards event with my 80D and 24-105mm L lens. It sure is nice not to have to change film every little bit and then later process it. With 9 grandkids, I have had a number of senior pics to take, as well some of their friends, that couldn't afford professional. I'm not in photography for professional, monetary means, so one of the questions I've enjoyed hearing from my grandkids friends has been: "How much will it cost me for the senior pics?"...to which I enjoy responding: "You just pay for all the film I use." Some get it, and some don't

Not sure, one day I may shoot with it, really picked it up for the lens, but it is in good shape, everything seems to be working just fine. As with most cameras of that age I am sure that the light seal linings that seal the back door need changing.

I have owned Pentax since 1964 starting with an H3V with the clip on meter, a Spotmatic, a K10 and presently a K3. Lenses from a 35 mm, 135 mm, 300 mm, 11 mm fisheye, all Takumars. Great cameras and great optics. I might add that all of them still work quite well. It is sad to me that the competing brands are very heavily promoted while Pentax quality is not.

Used a Spotmatic as a photojournalist back in the late '60's and 70's. Still have the camera and a few lenses, and the camera still works. It took a beating and just kept on going!!
