For me as a newbie this is the most difficult thing to do birding and the most fun...ESPECIALLY when you start editing and see that it was a success. In the 2.2 seconds that the D850 fired off 20 frames it NAILED this raptor and later the bream every frame ...D850/Sigma CONTEMPORARY hand held. (couldn't have done this with a F4 prime zoom)...GET THE FEVER FOR BIRDS IN FLIGHT!!
Very nice series! What do you mean that this couldn't have been done with an F/4 prime zoom? A prime wouldn't be a zoom, if you are referring to the weight of the lens and mobility of shooting hand held there are many who would agree with you.

You have captured what people can only dream of. Not only being in the right place, you didn't clip the wings, correct exposure and the last big thing, you froze the action. Bravo.
Wow! Now that’s what I call being ready to take great shots ... and being in the right place at the right time to do so. Well done!
