I have been very impressed with USPS's deliveries. They are as good as anyone.
I have also seen bad. B&H, for example, is a quick shipper. But delivery time varies a lot with who they ship WITH. DHL from them to me is TERRIBLE. A package goes from B&H in New Jersey to Ohio, where it apparently sits for a week. Somewhere it gets transferred to USPS, who brings it to me in central NY in a day.
I called B&H customer service about this. They use numerous shippers, for whatever reasons. I told them to stop using DHL, and use USPS door-to-door.
I have been very impressed with USPS's deliveries.... (show quote)

Like I said from my shipping days, USPS has a 97% good track record. There will always be the 3% bad and unfortunately it seems to happen to mostly grumpy old men. Oh well, such is life...

Wow, I can shoot just as bad with a $30 queue stick. Will a $2 grand queue improve my game?!

Again, irrelevant. Weather can and does cause major delays, even delays of 30 days or more. Here's a simple single case of weather causing delays. Not far from here a bridge was destroyed by heavy rain. That's weather. The road over the bridge was the main route between two towns and the main route to several businesses. People on one side couldn't get to work without going several miles out of their way. One of the businesses affected was a campground. The only way for large trailers to get to the campground was on the road that was closed because the weather destroyed the bridge. There was another business that had to lay off many employees because they couldn't get materials to or from the plant. Ironically, the local post office was on the wrong side of the bridge. Did that stop them? No, they simply sent the postal vehicles the long way around. It took almost 3 months to build the new bridge. In this case the weather caused almost 90 days of delays.
Yes, weather can and does cause major delays.

You contradicted your own argument by saying the loss of the bridge didn't stop the USPS. They went the long way around. None of what you are describing causes delivery of a package to be delayed 30 days. If a package delivery is delayed 30 days it's not caused by weather, it's caused by some other factor, usually mishandling.

You may be arguing but I was trying to have a conversation. Obviously you are closed minded and a 3 percenters. I'd say I feel sorry for you but I don't. I really don't give a rats tail. Luckly for the majority of us, life isn't really all that bad. I'd wish you a good day buy why waste a good wish. If you want to be miserable, go for it...

Maybe all the tax cuts have something to do with it. Would YOU work harder if your boss cut your pay, and benefits, and threatened to fire you on a moment's notice?

Are you really telling us that if taxes were raised the delivery of packages would improve. Do you have any idea what you are talking about? Tax cuts had nothing whatsoever to do with package delivery or anybody losing anything. Perhaps you can explain what you are talking about. So far I see nothing but emptiness.

Ahhh, if you post, it’s having a conversation. If I post it’s arguing. I get it now. Where did misery ever come into this?

If you think USPS is good you will really appreciate national health care. Conversely, ********

USPS became privatized July 1st, 1971. It is not a government agency. The employees are unionized with collective bargaining powers.

As an aside, so me one country with a nationalized heath care program that is fighting to go back to privatized for profit health care. Hmm, I thought so.

Mick Jagger came to the US for his recent surgery. My wife hired MD’s from Canada routinely to practice in a non-profit health services provider. The were tired of having the bean counters in Ottawa make decisions that should be made by doctor and patient. Many of the northern states provide fee for service care because of the long waits in Canada. Docs in England make less than an industrious plumber or electrician, their system is in crisis mode. To their credit they do help with medical school, but in the US if you contract to serve at Indian Health and some other underserved you get loan forgiveness at some level based on how long you can stand to work for the government. Obama promised lower costs-didn’t happen, lower deductabiles-wrong, you could keep your Dr-wrong again. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Perhaps you’ve noticed that thousands of Doc’s left the practice and many will not take Medicare because of the governments intervention into what was the worlds best health care. Perfect, not, best it was. Best example is the VA. People lived through wars only to die waiting for a freaking Dr appointment.

Look at this way: the USPS processes nearly HALF A BILLION pieces of mail per day. Something is bound to get lost in the process. Overall, the USPS does a great job.

Try sending a letter to Hawaii from NY for 50 cents by UPS or Fed Ex.

You might/might not have some valid points but what does it have to do with the USPS?

I subscribe to several specialized local business papers and newsletters, which are issued and mailed daily. I have tracked the mailing and delivery dates and confirmed that our local USPS station is apparently only doing its required job three days per week. And around holidays, sometimes only two days. The 'customer be damned' attitude also is shown by the local station parking its delivery vehicles in the two handicapped spots, often causing hardship for physically challenged patrons.

Wife ordered something on line. It went from California to Louisville, Kentucky, back to Washington state and then down to us. With the price of fuel (see post above this one) I don't see how they can do it.

OR, you could hang them based on one instance.
Does it happen every time?
1 out of 50?
However, their tracking information accuracy leaves little to be desired.

"Loose" means unfastened. "Lose" (pronounced looz) means lost to your possession>
