I was going to add the he needs to dispense some of his largesse to the countries where his & his predecessors minions purloined it in the name of salvation.

Well, I have to say, when we were in Italy, we visited the Vatican. THE WALL AROUND THE ENTIRE VATICAN CITY WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE, being about 40 or 50 feet high, and I imagine about 10 to 20 feet thick! And there are guards, both civil authorities and Vatican police at EVERY entrance to keep out UN_WANTED people!!! He, (Pope Francis) goes further, stating, "The blame for poverty and war lays at the feet of capitalism." I do not feel that the Pope has any right to make those statements. When he tears down the walls around the Vatican and allows everyone to enter and camp out there, then he can say anything he wants about walls.

I apologize as this will probably evoke a tirade of reply's. But I have to repeat, I am not trying to be disrespectful at all. If there were no walls around the Vatican, then there would be nothing to say.

No disagreement here, Rich.

Very similar to the anti-gun crowd here that uses armed guards.

I suspect it is pretty old. Back in the day (well before my time) the walls really were necessary to try to keep out the murderers/rapists (aka knights in the service of rival monarchs). And there were real barbarians in those days.

He could take it down if he really believed it!

Think about this. The catholic church is it's own country, shouldn't all the priests in this country have to register as agents of a foreign country. They should at least have to be registered as sex offenders.

How are the priests or nuns in the Vatican "agents" of a foreign country. They are residents, nothing more.

Judged by his statements and actions 'His Holiness' is a Communist, a hypocrite, and an anti-Semite.

The Catholic Church is NOT a country, it is a religious organization. Vatican City is a city state with an area of about 2 tenths of a square mile, making it the worlds smallest physical country. The global headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church is located in Vatican City but, the church is definitely NOT a country and Roman Catholic priests are definitely NOT agents of a foreign country.
Although there are pedophile priests, there are also pedophile republicans. Based on your logic, priests should have to register as sex offenders, then shouldn't republicans?

Actually, Qatar is the worlds wealthiest nation, and one of the smallest. If you took the time to validate your false claim you'd find that Vatican City doesn't even make it onto the top 50 list.

For starters, the wall does NOT surround all of Vatican City, only parts of it. The walls were built centuries before Vatican City even existed and Pope Francis had nothing to do with them. Those walls are quite old and quite common for most any medieval European city, not just Vatican City or Rome.
