I just joined this group 5 minuets ago and you guys are scaring me away already.
I deal with B & H all the time so what if they close on Saturday lots of places close on Sunday or Monday and I don't see it as imposing anything on anybody.and as for the guy who never heard of B&H man you go to go there you will feel like a kid in a candy store.
Welcome to our forum, and don't be scared away. This is not typical of our discussions.

I just tried to order something from B&H. Their site told me they don't accept online orders till 7PM on Saturday. I understand the reason: they are Jewish and observing their Sabboth. While I agree that in the U.S. they are welcome to do so I am also welcome to not have them impose their religious beliefs on me. So I'll never try to order from them again.

Your post says a lot more about you than it does B & H. I'm truly sorry you feel that way. I'd ask you to reconsider your position but I have a feeling it would only be met with more ignorance.
I don't scare easy Jerry think I'll be here for a long time.
anyway How can I leave a place called The Ugly Hedgehog"

We are, in general, a very tolerant group. We have a philosophy that there is no such thing as a dumb question. I'm glad we didn't scare you away. I've found that the few things we do not tolerate well include meanness and bigotry. To that I say hooray. Hope you stick around a long time.
Imposing their religion? Only if they force you to go to Temple in order to place an order. The baseball coach at my alma mater, Wheaton, pitched for the Dodgers, but had one stipulation....he wouldn't pitch on Sunday. Some people just have the dedication to follow their convictions.

Reading this was like watching an accident happen in slow motion. I'm truly sorry you see it that way.

Sorry, I just had to throw this in. Learn the difference:
Hijab
Niqab
Burqa
This has got to be the most ridiculous post I have ever read.
My business is staying closed so I am forcing my beliefs on you?
Incredible.
In Colorado, you can't buy a car from a dealer on a Sunday. Was it religion that caused that? Nope. The car dealers lobbied for the law so they could get a day off. Maybe B&H people want a day off.

This is one of the dumbest posts I have ever read. They are not even close to "imposing" their beliefs. If a store is closed on Sunday, are they imposing anything on anyone?
Anyone who has been in the photographic field for more than a few weeks knows the B&H policies. Hardly a big deal.
You have come out of your closet - you are a bigot. I am so disappointed in you.

I'm also disappointed and this topic is best posted in General Chit Chat (non-photography talk).

This brings up something that has always made me crazy. There are many examples of this in politics of this type of thinking. How do you get from "orders not accepted until 7:00 pm on Saturday" to they are imposing their religion on you? Was the stated reason for not accepting orders during that time their observance of the sabbath? If not, for all you know the reason is they play golf until 7:00 pm on Saturday. Would you stop doing business with them if that were the case? If not, why not? Or is it only the observance of religion that bothers you?

 I agree with you CaptainC. When I first saw that they were closed for the Sabbath, I just smiled.
