This a GOOD reason to NEVER put your camera atop your car before getting in, and while talking on your cell phone. The lens did not survive either. The only things salvaged were the strap, the hot-shoe cover, the battery and the memory card. I'll keep it just in the outside possibility that the shutter and/or sensor are still usable.

Lmark, did you try it? Maybe it still works!! Sorry
Happened to a friends chain saw once. A 36" tree fell on it. Of all the parts, only a little rubber gas line was salvaged. He was lucky to be alive.
Good Luck with the insurance.

I do have two other D90's as well as a D60 & a D40. I'm using them to teach basic DSLR photography and Photoshop in Central America, so I'm not totally devastated. It is, however, a fairly expensive whack on the side of the head!

That is a marvelous photograph. Sorry you had to go to such extremes to get it. It might be wise if we all printed it out and glued the print to the center of our steering wheels.

Your homeowners policy should cover your loss but the only problem with that is you'll probably be faced with whatever your deductible is. That's why I recommend a segregated policy for ones camera gear.

Wouldn't bother me, that's why there is camera gear insurance

Send the shot to Canon for advertizing, slogan could read "One More Reason to go Canon" You may recover cost...but seriously, that sucks, sorry bout your loss.

Do you have icewater in your veins?? I can't imagine anyone not being even a tad upset over something like this.

I Feel for you. I had my car broken into last week and lost brand new Apple mac laptop and all my backups and software. Only in my vehicle for 15 minutes and hidden on floor under seat. 5 grand total. That hurts.

Did you contact Rick Riggins? www.discountcamerarepair.com. I'm sure it would be a challenge for him. :D
