This a GOOD reason to NEVER put your camera atop your car before getting in, and while talking on your cell phone. The lens did not survive either. The only things salvaged were the strap, the hot-shoe cover, the battery and the memory card. I'll keep it just in the outside possibility that the shutter and/or sensor are still usable.

Oooops!
Oooops!...

I hope that was a really important phone call. It'd be a real shame if you destroyed a camera because of a phone call you could have made at some other time.

Actually, it was my wife calling from Honduras. It wasn't a call I could ignore. If possible, she will never know this happened. :-(

Yes, D90. Well, at least now I know what's really inside these things that make them a bit pricey.

Have you checked with your homeowners insurance to see if it might be covered?

No, I didn't think of that. I doubt I'll have time to get much done about it though. I'm heading back to Central America on Tuesday. But it's worth a shot.

Wow, really nice picture!

Seems like a lot to go through to get it, but very cool!

Wow! Just... WOW!

MT's suggestion about checking your homeowner's insurance is great one. I'm pretty sure our provider would cover it.

But... WOW!

Yeah, I guess "Golly gee" pretty much covers it. But my wife would have been proud....I did get the chance to practice some rather colorful Spanish

Perfect excuse to start researching a new camera.
