I have had about 4 Canon cameras around in the last few years so I thought sure I would have a utility CD so I could put the new 7D firmware in but I have had no luck finding one. Does anyone here have any idea where one goes to purchase one. The canon site has no listing and I'm stuck. Help, and thanks. Mike

The latest firmware is usually available on the Canon website, along with instructions for installation.

Perhaps Nikon has Canon Firmware up grades along with a trade-in offer for non working Canons.

Truly I envy the Canon owners who can download Firmware Hacks. Many cameras have locked features that would work on lesser models. My Sony for example does not have a wide enough spread for bracketing useful for HDR. Changing a simple number in the firmware would solve the problem. Years ago HP had a camera which did have a programmable firmware and that was direct from HP.

For example "turn your Canon P&S into a super camera"

Make sure you have the latest version of the EOS Utility Software, before downloading and installing the 7D update. Canon Service & Support website will give you the latest updates on the EOS Utility software.

Has directions on how to install without the disk. If you do not have windows 8, it is easier... web sites included for all windows versions

Here is the link you need
No purchase required.
I have installed it without the disk for years
Works great.
Update has all the information you need, you just need the folders to put it into. Not hard to do.

Hi, years ago I ran into this same problem. Canon said I had to have the original Zoom Browser to download from the Canon sight. Email me if you don't find one and I will try to make a copy for you. Bee

I think that you only need a S# from a camera. When I got my G2 and converted to IR I downloaded the one for G2 and then had to work up to the newest one... I think at that time I could not just jump to the latest... any way , see if a S# works.

Google "canon utility disk download" looks like lots of work arounds.

Canon lied to you. Only need empty folders for the update to download into. Update has all the info and you will be all set. Promise.

LOL... many of the reps do not know that all the information is in the update... it is not just an update. Lie was the wrong word... Uninformed would have been better.

I got to watch myself around you ROFL

You can do firmware without a CD, but when it comes to the Windows based software from Canon, updates only are on their site. The gotcha is that they look for previous installs on your PC, if they don't find one it will not install.

I shoot Canon, but so far only have bought used and of course the seller can never supply the CD. I'm under the impression that there is some personalization that can only be done to the camera using that software. I'd love to get my hands on an ISO if not an actual disk.
