Amazon products, delivery, discounts, perceived value have all been discussed on this venue. I recently had an experience with Amazon that I would rate several thumbs up. It was a twofer involving 2 products so this post runs somewhat long. I was surprised by the outcome.

About 3 weeks ago, I bought some Crystal Light Peach Mango drink mix, 12 boxes - $39, from Amazon because it's difficult to get in stores. I didn't need it at the time so I put in my pantry.

Earlier this week I bought a 62 mm lens cap for my camera. It was to be delivered yesterday. Late in the day I checked my email and received one from Amazon saying it had been delivered with a picture of it on my doorstep. I opened the door to see, but there was no package there. Only conclusion I can draw is somebody stole it. Only satisfaction was that it only cost me $7 and whoever stole it got something that totally worthless to them. I decided I would wait til this morning to call Amazon.

When I got up I wanted to make some of the peach mango drink so I got the package out of my pantry and discovered that it was peach drink (no mango). To me, that's the same as buying a Reese's Peanut Butter cup and only getting a gob of peanut butter. So when I called Amazon, I had two issues.

I called and spoke to their automated system and after answering a few questions, was able to speak to a representative. When I related that I had received the lens cap and somebody stole it, I wondered how Amazon would treat it. To my surprise, she told me that they would replace it and was it OK if it arrived by Tuesday. I then brought up the issue of the drink mix. I said they sent me the wrong mix. She checked their records and agreed that they sent the wrong mix and would send me another one ASAP. I asked if I should return the wrong mix and she said no, keep it, donate it or give it to someone else. Both problems solved in about 6-7 minutes with a better resolution than I had expected. I made a point of telling her how impressed I was with both her and Amazon. I asked for her name so I could include it in the follow up survey that Amazon uses to improve their service.

When dealing with other companies, it can be quite a challenge and take multiple calls and a lot of wasted time just to get to speak to a real person and uncertain outcome. I think Amazon provides products and services that are well-worth the price of Prime.

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO COMMUNICATE WITH COMCAST TV SERVICE? .ALL YOU EVER GET IS ONE RECORDED VOICE AFTER ANOTHER. They have the absolutely worst customer service that exists. The last time I tried it it took an hour to get a live person and then she botched up my service change that I requested.

I've had similar problems in dealing with CVS Pharmacy. Almost impossible to get by phone and when you do after many minutes, you're transferred to another department and the call is lost and you have to start all over again. Has taken up to 3 hours to resolve issue. That's why I posted this because I'm sure many hoggers have had similar eperiences which is what makes Amazon such a good deal.

And Comcast has what to do with Amazon? By the way, Original Poster, Amazon is like everyone else. They have good points and bad points as well as good employees and bad employees. I have never had an issue with them, although I do not buy that much through them.

My only main gripe on any online shop is that they do not follow delivery instructions.
I have on my address strict instructions to deliver after office hours but they just keep delivering on their own time.

I suspect that is because delivery services are geared to fast delivery and their goal is to deliver ASAP. Their systems can accommodate delivery at specific times. Maybe this is an opportunity for you to develop a delivery service that can deliver at specific times. But then again, everyone has a great idea that won't work.

Thats is how things work, they deliver in bulk per area. The point is in the end, they still reschedule my deliveries so I get them as per my schedule. They just end up sending the package out 2-3 more times before i get them.

I do not know how they save time and effort doing that, but that is their way, The bad part is that cancellations & reschedules are unwanted worries and stress both on my part and theirs.

Yours is actually a good idea. If I have the resources, I just might set that business up. For sure when people stops having stress on their deliveries, that service will be preferred by customers.

I have had very good success with both Amazon products and their exceptional customer service when I have had an issue it was always quickly resolved, sometimes to my advantage . I try to buy local but going store to store gets old. I have even bought $1200 Tamron lenses from them and found them to be genuine Tamron products. I once had a $40 product get "lost", got a full refund only to have the item show up 2weeks later.

When I’m in Florida, the Boynton Beach CVS Pharmacy on Congress never answers their phone. No problem with CVS with Oceanside NY store.

Amen to that. I really like their customer service because you can call them and speak to a representative quickly about issues that can't be anticipated by robo-answering programs. When I had this twofer situation, I thought that I should give Amazon an "atta boy" by sharing the experience on UHH.

My problems were not with individual stores but trying to deal with their mail order division. My insurance provides for 3 months supply for the cost of two if you order by mail. Their mail order service was through CVS. They got a sufficient number of complaints to switch to a different mail order pharmacy.

You are spot on! Whenever I call Comcast/Xfinity, at some point during the conversation I provide my opinion of their hideous phone robot that has yet to not pi$$ my off. I’ve had the CS rep screw up agreed service changes, but consistently quote me the wrong monthly rate. Unfortunately, where we live, Comcast and anemic Century Link are our only options. As far as Amazon is concerned, we buy our fair share and I can think of only a couple issues (packaging and billing) and Amazon made both “right” immediately. Correction, for a while they used some oddball delivery service that sucked when they were transitioning from UPS. It didn’t last long. I’m still buying.
