Shot late Wednesday afternoon in deep shadows on my deck. This male Great-tailed Grackle takes his evening bath in a shallow watering bowl. Sometimes, after bathing, he emits his typical grackle screech, as captured here. His shiny bill is due to water from his bathing. Deep shadow pull at ISO 12,800.

An awesome shot which would be even more so if opera were coming out

Thank you, Rob. I use Topaz Denoise AI for almost every image I process, varying the degree of denoise and sharpening as called for by the shadows on the subject. I also use masks in Lightroom when necessary, principally to create subject and background separation plus bring out subject detail where feasible.

Thanks for sharing that! I think its time I get into Topaz. I've heard it called out by others but never delved into it.
My 80D isn't great with low light and shadows and I think it will be a great tool.

There is a newer version of Topaz than what I use but it (the new version) will not run on my Desktop. So if you choose to get into Topaz, ensure your PC is capable of running the software.
