Who really cares? Canon shooters know the Canon terms as much as all the others know the terms of their respective cameras.

This is looking at the world through a Nikon fanboy's view. The writer I have read numerous of their posts. This is patently obvious.
A Canon, Sony or other user will find Nikon or other system confusing to use if they have just been using one over others.
I find Nikon nomenclature very difficult to figure out from just the letters and look them up to know what they mean as they are not self evident at all.

In the 35mm SLR history before the Minolta XD-11 the auto exposure mode on a camera was always labeled A. People did talk about shutter priority and aperture priority cameras but the cameras auto exposure mode was always labeled simply A.
When Minolta introduced the XD-11 they used M for manual and Auto A and S for aperture priority and shutter priority.
Shortly after that Canon introduced the A-1 and they used Av and Tv for aperture value and shutter value. There was no M on the Canon. The P is one setting on the shutter speed dial when set to Tv.
I think the first camera that used PSAM was the Nikon FA which came out 4 years after the the Minolta XD-11.
I wish some cameras use SPAM but there is none.

Much to do about nothing.

Love the article - love the concept. As the largest camera club in Texas, I am going to look to convert this information into a 10 minute awards like presentation presented in a humorist manor at a club meeting. It will have appeal to the beginner through Master. Making light fun at any camera brand always brings a laugh from the audience. Again, thank you.

Silly article. The function dial presentation/discussion is "Nikon-Centric". Canon and Pentax both use mostly the same terms, i.e. Tv, Av, Sv, M, P. Pentax, Ricoh, Leica, and Hasselblad all have DNG as a alternate RAW format in-camera. "F2.8" or "f/2.8"? ISO or ASA/DIN? So whose are right or best to be adopted, Adobe, Canon, Leica, Nikon, Pentax, Sony? Most Photo terms are not silly, they come from the history of photography. If having to know a few arcane Photography terms bothers you, be glad that you are not a Chemist, Biologist, Physicist, Engineering, or in the fields of Medicine. Over the years I have been involved with Chemistry, Biology, and Photography, and Education. A lot of concepts and language involved!

I never liked the designated functions of Tv, Av, Sv that Canon and Pentax use. Probably why I never owned either brand, but those where secondary reasons at best.

I think we need to further discuss this in depth: Are Nikon function designations better than Canon function designations?

None of them is better than the others. They are all OK but none is perfect. As long as you know what they meant it's fine.

Yes, I agree about the variety of names - unnecessarily confusing.

Unfortunately, I can't read the article because the site thinks I have an ad blocker. That happens occasionally.

Agreed; I guess my sarcasm didn't come through clearly enough. I'm just whacking the hornet's nest obliquely referring to the never-ending Nikon vs Canon, RAW vs JPEG or smart phone vs DSLR discussions.

Yeah
We know what someone means if he/she writes "aperature" or "lense" or "Tamuron" or saying if someone if an "amature". As long as we understand each others that's all that counts.
