Then double bag.
Once crushed in the truck they will be destroyed.
It has worked for decades for me with no issues.

I wouldn't trust the crushing in the truck, having been at the dumps to pickup broken down GTrucks and watched the workers on the ground pick stuff up, undamaged!! Small stuff!!
When I want something destroyed I do it myself, that way I can sleep at night!!

No one will ever go through the garbage in a million years.
Paranoia runs rampant here at times.

Often TV stations etc with have a shread day as a promo. A company like Iron Mountain handles and they're licensed and bonded. You also get to watch the stuff get ground. The reason for this is identity theft prevention and folks bring old tax returns etc. You would need to ask but might be a free way to get rid of them. Otherwise what's already been suggested, contacting Iron Mountain etc directly and explaining what you have would likely be the safest option. They handle "secret" business paperwork all the time and it would take liability off you.

What? You think OP is gonna risk his license and rely on that? Follow up similar answers demonstrate a total lack of understanding about the word “confidential” and a total disregard of privacy.

Actually I fully understand.
Far more than you ever would hope to.

The simple solution is to just google local secure shredding companies in your area. They come to you and do the deed and, importantly , gives you a certificate demonstrating that the items were securely shredded. Very important to have demonstrable proof of proper disposal in case of future legal action. Try Shred-It for example which is an international company. Or look for local, reputable shredding services in your neighborhood who may charge less.

Why not put in a metal bucket and pour some chemicals in. Stand back (way back)

One of the items not allowed by Shredding stores are Transparencies.
Is there an efficient way of destroying them?
Thanks, David

Might try something like acetone. It will dissolve many plastics. Highly flammable, but sold at Lowes. Not really good for environment, but if it works just let it evaporate afterwards outside. End up with a mass of mixed plastics.
