In the world of Ferrari, it doesn't get any more authentic then this car. It's a 1949 Ferrari 166 MM. It is the very first model produced by Enzo Ferrari after he set up shop under his own name. Records are a little murky but most authorities believe only 24 166 MM models were produced. What is certain is that this car was the second one made and it was outfitted with some extra racing options. Cars with these racing features were often referred to as Touring Barchettas. This car was raced successfully in a number of the more noted events. It also served as Ferrari's principal sales tool for several years after it was retired from racing.

But for some reason Ferrari's never appealed to me

Talk about beautiful, and rare. Needs armed guards around it
Great photos
Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it.
The owner of the car ( a noted collector who lives in the northeast area ) had two representatives who watched over the car like a hawk. I saw one photographer who looked like he wanted to bend over, and get some closeups of the interior. He got about a foot from the car and those two dudes were all over him.

I sure appreciate you looking in.

Beautiful. Interesting that it is right hand steering; I’m not sure if that is common for Le Mans racing cars.
Right hand drive ????? . Was looking at a similar looking JAG , rare car .the hood was closed , a friend of mine that is a British car expert , after looking at the pictures i sent him , said it is a replica . I thought the car looked too perfect .

Yes, but when the company was founded 70 years ago, Enzo Ferrari chose yellow.
Thank you. I appreciate the visit.

Thanks.
This car, to my knowledge, never ran at Le Mans. It did run several times at Millie Miglia and other tracks. Right hand drive cars are the preferred set-up for Le Mans. I think Porsche in the mid '60's was the last hold-out and for the Le Mans race they switched to right had drive.

Was it Michael Bozzuto perchance?
