I don't understand that statement. See attached. Shot with DSLR, viewfinder, 450mm (equivalent full frame) focal length.

As I said, use what you like and be happy. I choose all the competitive advantages and performance advantages of mirrorless. Cheers and best to you.

gwilliams,

Since you are a pro, may I ask what mirrorless brand you use?

I used Nikon and Canon SLRs and DSLRs for over 40+ years, plus some Leica Rangefinder. I moved over to mirrorless in Jan, 2017 for all its advantages that no DSLR can physically have.

I went with Sony mirrorless. I have owned Sony APS-C A6500; Sony fullframe A7RII, A7RIII, A7III, A9; and currently own Sony fullframe A7RIV, A1, A7SIII. I currently own 13 native E-mount lenses covering 10mm to 600mm from Sony, Sigma, Tamron.

For me personally, Sony stills has the most complete and proven fullframe mirrorless system. And the E-mount is still the most widely produced and used mirrorless lens mount in the world with currently over 200+ native E-mount lenses and constantly growing in number from Sony, Sigma, Tamron, Samyang/Rokinon, Tokina, Viltrox, Zeiss, Meike and more brands.

I have still held on to one of my fav SLR, my old Canon F1 SLR, like I used when I covered the War in Nicaragua, between Contras and Sandinistas. I still use it with some Canon SLR lenses I kept, when I teach my 35mm B&W film course at a state university, where I also teach Photojournalism and Digital Photography courses. I still have an old first generation Nikon D1 DSLR but it isn't any longer in working condition. All my more recent Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras and loads of Nikon and Canon lenses, I traded in to get my mirrorless gear.

Full disclosure, I did keep one Canon DSLR lens, the superb Canon TS 17mm f4 Tilt-shift lens which i use on my Sony bodies with a Sigma MC-11 (EF to E-mount) lens adapter.

Others may prefer mirrorless from Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Panasonic, Leica, or OM-systems, and that is fine. Use the brand you like and be happy

Cheers and best to you.

Gerald, but most call me Jerry.

As I have said many times, use what brand gear you favor and be happy. There is room for us all, and I want all makers to succeed. Good competition keeps them all innovating, and we all win.

You are welcome, Cheers and best to you.

u4ea, back on page ten of this thread I posted this: Top Worldwide News Services move from DSLRs to mirrorless gear for all their staff photographers and staff videographers Worldwide. .

"Associated Press, UK Press, Canadian Press, all Gannett media including USA Today all ditched their Canon and Nikon DSLRs and went exclusively to Sony Mirrorless for all their staffers, worldwide. AFP (Agence France Presse) helped develop and test the mirrorless Nikon Z9 and they use Z9 for all their staffers worldwide.

Your photo needs may be very different than those of news and sports photographers and videographers . Here is what these News Services said about why they made to move to mirrorless in the past 24 months.

Agree will never go back to SLR. Reminds me of transfer years ago when I put down my film camera for ever

I am only posting because I want to see 20 pages... Unless you are a pro with def. needs WHO really cares what YOU spend YOUR money on and YOU enjoy ? I still enjoy Sony's Very first Digital Bridge introduced in 2005. Come on people, only 2 more pages to go!

I don't see being pro makes any difference, other than being easier to justify expense. I'm interested in why other photographers pick the kit they do. It doesn't have to be better to be enjoyable...

Nothing wrong with SLR. Mirrorless cameras do not take better pictures. They just have more tools. Not needed for most photographers. I have upgraded my camera every few years as cameras improved now use mirrorless camera helps me speed up process of obtaining results I want. You can still get same quality from a SRL.

I mentioned that because I always read WHY someone has to have the latest and greatest to be on leading edge... i.e. making money. WHY does anyone pick the color car they drive...? WHY are non pros running out and spending 4000 + for the latest and greatest ? Because they CAN, and want it ! That doesn't make them the second coming of AA. Sure, Skill has a LOT to do with it but if you want to be competitive I think you need the best equip you can lay your hands on. Believe me, I am with you, but I don't feed my kids on my mediocre clicks and it IS VERY enjoyable to me.
