HUH?? Did I just hear you say what I thought I heard you say? Quote, Have a look at Abe's of Maine for really low prices. Please expound on why you would promote shopping with them. You of all people! I'm sitting here scratching my head on that one.

I believe the post is sarcastic.....

Perhaps, like the practice of so many oriental rug dealers, the sale period will start anew once the current eight-hour period has expired.

Abe's does offer low prices, but there is a reason for that. Actually, there are many reasons, mainly gray market and "missing parts." "Oh, you want a charger? That'll cost extra."

The camera companies control prices, so if someone is selling at a low price, beware!

Yes Abe's has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau with continued complaints from consumers about grey market, bait and switch tactics ,missing parts that will cost you extra, added costs not disclosed upfront. refusal to honor their own warranties, failure to accept returns and provide refunds, and more.

Buyer beware, unless you want to be next on their list. People that fall into their spider's web keep them in business to scam more people..

Cheers and best to you.

Was web surfing the internet this afternoon when I ran across an ad that Abe's of Maine posted….

Save your money!!

I am remembering a series of commercials and stores called, CRAZY EDDIE!

I remember the guy in the commercial claiming,
“His prices are insane!”
Eventually, Eddie ended cooking the books and frauded a lot of people. He was indicted on racketeering charges.

I always go to a place that offers great service, honesty and everything tailored to the customer’s satisfaction.
They may be a little more expensive but in the end, you save by not being aggravated.

Before the pandemic, I was on the Hog reading about Abe’s Of Maine. I was writing about my own experiences at B&H. I was and still am enamored but this store because of a great many facets to this wonderful store. I even mentioned that on every counter was a glass dish filled with candies. However, I forgot to include the name. A short while later I received an e-mail from a very courteous man. He wanted to know what store was better than the one he was employed by. When I mentioned the candy dishes, he knew. I was invited by the man to see and truly understand the intricate workings of a store that is absolutely amazing. But COVID came for a visit and that was postponed. Recently, I made an appointment and we fulfilled our tour. I was absolutely floored at this wonderful store. No one else can compare.
I promised the employee that I would not divulge any information including his name and the integral aspects I learned. This is a great store and I recommend a physical visit. If you can make it into NYC, the online experience will save you time and money.
I have never been disappointed and while not every sale is perfect, the staff has always been eager to make things right!!!

You may not save hundreds of dollars but you will avoid a hundred aggravations by not going to a store claimed to be from Maine but is actually in New Jersey!

I know a lot of people purchase from B&H but buyer beware. I was in the market for a D500 and went to B&H… to buy new. They sent the camera but I noticed the serial number on the box did NOT match what was on the camera.

I am very sorry about this uncharacteristic incident and the dissatisfaction it caused. I'd like to know more about this but need the order number to do so. My email address is in my sig.

A fool and his money part ways at Abe's.

Another terrific Paul Sager-ism worth quoting.

I have and never will go near Abe’s. Since everyone here on the Hog has no so wonderful things to say, why go. It seems like a waste to me!

I will always go to B&H because they are not shady. Besides, if something isn’t 100% they will make it right!!!

You can't sell it to him, because you don't own it. I do.
And anyway I'll sell it cheaper.....

After contacting them letting them know this was a used camera and serial numbers didn’t match up they refused return/refund because camera serial and box didn’t match?!! After many calls and arguments someone finally believed me that they sent it this way… I was able to get a full refund. I will never buy/trust them again. Long story short… check your serial numbers against box…always.
I know a lot of people purchase from B&H but b... (show quote)

Wait, they made a mistake, and ultimately fixed the problem and you will never trust them again? They fact that they acknowledged the problem and fixed it should be a reason to trust them. If they had not taken it back that would be the best reason not to trust them.

Caveat Emptor will always remain in effect. But in this case you cause for concern was rectified. This brick and mortar store functions on integrity. I do think that you are taking the issue of Buyer Beware far too literally. The fact that they did there best to make the purchase right should show good. I have ordered an item from them over the years. But they had corrected the shipping. I’m headed back to them on Sunday.
