We were fortunate to witness a pre-wedding photo shoot at Angkor Wat. Here are some more images from this magnificent temple.

From the photographer's website: https://www.ostinellicristiano.com/weddings/pre-wedding-at-angkor-wat-angkor-cambodia/
A traditional Cambodian wedding is comprised of many ceremonies, music, meals, gifts, and guests lasting for three days and three nights. Cambodians choose the number three because of its relation to “three jewels” of Buddhism: the Buddha, the Sangha, and the Dhamma.

The bride and groom are attired in bright color silk costumes. Wedding in Cambodia has to follow a lot of ceremonies and it was a great honor to participate in a traditional cambodian wedding and tell through our pictures its story.

In the first day, we had to shoot the spouses in in middle of the Angkor Wat temple: it is an enormous Buddhist temple complex located in northern Cambodia. It was originally built in the first half of the 12th century as a Hindu temple. Spread across more than 400 acres, Angkor Wat is said to be the largest religious monument in the world.

The marriage lasts two days and during them occur two separate ceremonies, one at the groom’s house and a second one at the bride’s house. From the groom’s house start the procession where all family members bring a gift to the bride waiting in hes house for their arrival.

After the union of the couple follow different ceremonies including a religious Buddhist one to which assist relatives and close friends, while during the final party of the second day there will be more than three thousand guests including very important people of Cambodia.

Cristiano Ostinelli, Sony Global Imaging Ambassador, grew up in the field of photo reportage since 1995, making a name for himself in several international competitions.
He is active in wedding photography: he photographed prestigious weddings all over the world – Italy, Greece, Spain, Austria, France, England, United States, Russia, India, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and United Arab Emirates, always with his spontaneous and extremely refined style. He’s a member of WPJA Wedding Photojournalist Association, ISPWP, Fearless Photographers and WPS.
Cristiano Ostinelli was nominated PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 by Wedding Photojournalist Association, and in 2018 the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers considers him the top wedding photographer in the world.

It’s really neat to have a pre-wedding photo shoot in such a marvelous place and you were there! The bride’s ample bracelets—wrist, arm, and leg, certainly added weight to her! I’m glad you were able to include photos of the bride and wedding party. That’s quite a feast with 3 days of ceremonies and celebrations.
I also like the pic of the little boy with the incense.

Really nice captures. Are three-day weddings mainly done by rich (?) families?

Thanks for commenting Barbara. I'm really not sure. I would think poorer families still follow the tradition but on a smaller scale.
